AIBU?

To be ridiculously excited at having ordered a new fridge freezer?

Is this what my life has come to - highlight of my week is ordering a new kitchen appliance? 😂😂

To be fair, I’ve never had a brand new one and have gone through 3 second hand crap ones this year. I’ve saved and saved and sold half my house on eBay, and was aiming to order the one I want from Costco, where it was £200 cheaper than Curry’s etc. Just looked on eBay and the Hotpoint store on there have the exact one for £40 less than Costco, plus Quidco are doing 10% cash back on eBay purchases so it’s win win :) Can’t wait til Friday!!

Plus with the money I’ve saved, I can afford a window vac and a new microwave. I can barely contain my excitement!

Surely I can’t be the only one that loves appliance shopping? It used to be Shoes and clothes but I guess I’m officially old and sensible now!

Not appliances, but I'm carpet and paint shopping at the moment and am enjoying it loads!

I just got a new cooker.

I think it may have been the most exciting day if my adult life Grin

Not at all! Appliances count as gadgets in my book, and you can't beat the arrival of a new gadget.

Ooh I love paint shopping too!

I would absolutely love a new cooker. When I bought this house, I was moving from a place with fitted appliances and a friend offered me an old cooker she had. It works, it makes food hot and I am very grateful, but I hate it with a passion! Just can’t justify or afford replacing it at the minute.

I bought a tumble dryer the other day. I love it almost as much as I love my children. Some days, more.

I think when it arrives I’m going to have to spend some time just stroking and polishing it Grin I’ve just opened the door on my current one and poked at the iceberg that’s forming at the back and told it I hate it!

I'm saving for a new fridge freezer, my heart has always been set on a side by side American one, hoping to get a deal in the January sales and I can't wait!!

I just bought a new fridge freezer. I luffs it. It's so shiny and and big and efficient. It's my first new one, so I'm thrilled and don't care who knows it 😂

When Dh and I bought our first ever washing machine (after having used the laundrette for ages before) we both sat and watched the first load go round and round on the step of our tiny kitchen for ages! Grin

Still love a new appliance. They smell nice too! Smile

Yanbu

I fought my first big kitchen appliance this year (.I rent furnished), a freezer, and I was very excited!

We're looking at fridge freezers now and I'm excited about getting one that doesn't need defrosting.

I can't get excited about fridges. Sorry, OP.

However, when I last got a new washing machine (8 or 9 years ago) I wanted to tell random strangers about my delivery date. I also shared the love at the school gate. Strangely, I don't think anybody was very interested Grin. But my love affair with my Miele has never faltered.

I'm with you on this one. We bought a chest freezer recently in anticipation of the extra food we'd have at Christmas and I bloody love it. I also really love the tumble dryer!

My bloody vacuum cleaner is stubbornly refusing to die right now. That's the next thing on my hit list!

I had a new washer about 8 years ago and I’ve just never felt about it how I feel for some of my other appliances! It’s ok and it makes stuff clean, but I luffs my dishwasher and tumble dryer more. I think my new shiny fridge freezer will take top spot though Grin

I agree. I have just this afternoon bought a vacuum cleaner and after having so many crap ones (Dyson) I have finally found one that seems to be brilliant and am now in love with it as not a bloody dog hair in sight.

YANBU. I barely slept the day before our new tumble dryer arrived Grin that makes me sounds very 1950s housewifey, I’m not, I just have a bizarre penchant for white goods Blush

I keep standing in the kitchen holding up a picture of it on my phone in the space it will fit in Blush I might be slightly obsessed!

I’ve literally had a stream of knackered second hand fridge freezers that don’t work properly. My current one has a buggered door seal, so anything in the door goes off, but it freezes everything else. And the freezer bit is tiny, so I’ve got a separate undercounter freezer which cost a tenner off gumtree and also doesn’t work properly.

New one is 70cm wide, massive freezer space and double doors on the fridge. It’s beautiful :)

If it helps OP I actually sent a video of my dryer in action to my SIL, a fellow white goods lover. Saddos, unite!

Of course YANBU! I got a new one months ago, replacing one that was over 10 years old, and am still excited by how cold it keeps and how much more spacious it is (same footprint as old one). It does however stick out a few cm now, but I'm willing to overlook that.
