AIBU?

To think it is rude

To keep looking someone up and down when you know they have been ill? I feel people keep doing this with me. I lost a stone in weight as I was so sick recently and I catch people looking me up and down and quickly looking away. Almost as though they are scared I am contaminated. Some I have noticed won't hug me and seem to be scared to get too close. I am recovering ok now although still having a few issues so it is weird to why they are being like this.

I doubt they think you're contaminated. Confused
Maybe they are trying to figure out if you're well or how much weight you've lost (enough to worry about?) Maybe they are worried they might hurt you? (If you're having "issues")
Maybe you're just being a bit paranoid. Who knows.

I'm guessing you were ill and away from people you know so they have not seen you gradually losing weight? To them they will have a mental image of you as you were before you became ill, and now suddenly you look different. Of course they're going to stare a bit, it's a bit of a shock! Try not to take it personally.

They'll be looking you up and down due to the amount of weight you've lost, and looking away quickly because they know it's rude. Human nature being what it though people will look, no matter how many times posters on here say "How rude, I never do that". Grin

I do understand that it's shit though, I've been there. (Finally getting a bit of weight back on 12 months later.)

Flowers & Cake - although you probably want to punch the next person who tells you that you need to eat cake!

I am being dumb so sorry but I don't understand, why would they be worried about hurting me?
I am 5'3 and about 7 and a half stone now. I was just over 8 stone when I was well so not a noticeable difference really.

Having said that I did drop to below 7 stone but nobody but family saw me like that. I am still having a few food related issues in terms of reacting badly to certain foods which is why I am not back to 'normal' yet.
