To ask for advice on night nappies with massive capacity?

Help! I need the wisdom and experience of mn here please.
My DD will be 2 soon and is currently leaking through her nappy every night. This means I'm washing vest, sleepsuit, sleeping bag and often bottom sheet every day which is getting exhausting.
She does wee a lot overnight depite rarely drinking in the 2 hours before bed, but the problem is compounded by her being a front sleeper so all the wee ends up at the very front of the nappy. The leak is almost always over the top of the waistband or at the hips rather than around legs.
We are currently using Aldi nappies as pampers leaked previously. She is in the right size for her weight (5+) we tried going up a size but they were too baggy around the legs and all the wee fell straight out the legholes instead.
I've tried double nappy, and that didn't work either. Tried Lidl brand, they leaked even more than Aldi.

I know cloth would be one possible solution but we had terrible damp and mould problems due to drying cloth nappies over winter so we had to give those up and I sold everything and don't really want to go back to that again, especially bleaching the mould off the walls every week.

Can anyone recommend a disposable nappy with a massive capacity or maybe a super high waistband? I looked at pyjama Pant things but they seem less absorbent than a normal nappy?
Or would using a disposable insert type thing work?

I have heard some people say they popped a liner from a cloth nappy inside a disposable, DS is still only little so no direct experience. A few liners wouldn't set you back much and should be OK for drying too without causing damp.

Bamboozle nappies overnight with a cover in the next size up so you can add absorbent. Works really well.

Old school Terry nappy with bamboo booster and something like a little lamb cover.

whatwouldaryado that's what we used to have but drying them made the house mouldy so had to get rid.

If the pee is all at the front would it be worth trying nappies or pyjama pants for boys as they tend to have a bit more absorbency at the front?

Thanks for the cloth recommendations, I know about cloth, have been there and done that but I just can't do it any more.

I really need a disposable that will work for us.

teal I tried it with some of the cloth inserts I still have but it didn't work, they seemed to make nappy not fit properly. Also I think they don't absorb quickly enough but then the nappy couldn't absorb quickly enough either because the insert was in the way.

When you use two, do you make a hole in the covering of the first nappy?

whyami my DD is 1, so a bit younger than yours but we had the same issue. I now use Sainsbury's own brand (little ones) and have found these work!! DD is also a front sleeper, and has been since she could roll; like you I tried Pampers, Aldi, Lidl, Tesco and Co Op! Good luck!

We found that pampers dry nights worked best (but we have boys)

7to25 no, I've never made a hole. Does that help?

If the towelling ones didn't leak, was that not easier than washing a sleeping bag?

I've no advice on disposables, other than I always found Pampers best, but you say you've tried those.

I would take her out of the sleeping bag though, and if you can get a towelling waterproof mattress protector and use as a sheet - lie her directly on that with blankets over. They are much easier to wash and dry. And possibly pyjama seperates rather than a sleepsuit - go for a fleecy type, again, they are easier to wash and dry.

I know you tried doubles but have you tried her own size nappy under a larger one?

You have already tried all the things I was going to suggest. What about changing the nappy when you go to bed?

I had this problem when DS was nearly ready to give up night nappies, he would hold the wee all night and then about 5 or 6 am he did a huge wee that overwhelmed the nappy. The only solution was to night train him. Sounds like it is too early for you to do that though?

Line the front of the nappy with a tena lady/continence pad.

I have this problem too with my son (18 months). I haven’t found a solution, I just change him about midnight and that stops the leaking but isn’t great for my sleep!

I'd suggest a tena/incontinence pad at the front too.

Would a few disposables cause more of a damp problem than your current daily wash load of sleeping bag/sleep wear and bottom sheet though?

I know where you're coming from we've just invested in a dehumidifier due to damp and leave window in washing drying room (spare bedroom) open for an hour or so to let the air circulate. Hope you find a solution! :)

I used to buy Tesco value sanitary towels (about 11p for 10) and stick two of them side by side in my son's nappies when he had this issue. It worked pretty well and they are really thick so not only absorbed a lot but kept the whole thing pretty snug to stop leaks escaping.

Would it disturb your dd too much to do a 10pm change when you go to bed?

@LivininaBox has already suggested that I see Smile

Babydry pants better than nappies in my experience. Change when you go to bed if already wet, then incontinence pads under the sheet?

I used to use pampers with the moon on ( can't remember name) then literally pull the up so far at the front it was much lower at the back and only just covering his bottom.

Also get a Kylie or the pampers liners for the bed.

Changing before we go to bed doesn't real help, we go to bed about 2 hours after her and the nappy is still mostly dry then. I think it's a few big wees in the early hours that are overwhelming it.

I am specifically looking for a disposable solution, going back to cloth is not going to happen. There are a variety of reasons.

I might give some tena thingies a go. Wonder if I can get some free samples, don't want to get a whole pack just to test.

In answer to double nappies, the one on top is a size 6+ borrowed from DS so a size up from her normal.

We have the same issue - I do the one on top backwards and higher up if that makes sense as it’s the front which buckles down under the pressure of the massive wees!
Works more often than not. We do aldi plus bottoms and pampers top.
