AIBU?

To ask if a car that fits two car seats and an adult exists???

We need a new car.
Occasionally I take my gdad or dsis out with us so it would be nice to fit an adult in-between the two car seats.
I don't want a diesel ( my conscience won't let me) and the only car I have found which fits 3 across the back is terrible mpg in petrol.
Is there an economical car out there which fits the bill?

I have a Toyota Verso, and have fitted 2 car seats and an adult in the back. Second car seat goes in the middle.

Citroen Picasso - we bought ours for this very reason - couldn’t be happier with our choice.

BiL's Ford Galaxy does the job.

You can do this easily in my in laws car, itswa Toyota corolla verso. My OH says it's horrible to drive though.
We have a focus and a golf and you definitely can't fit an adult between two child seats unless said adult is extremely extremely petite and does not wish to breathe.

we have a zafira and ive sat between two car seats in the back or in the boot with one car seat. we looked a lot as we have 2 disabled children and knew that quite often we would need an adult to sit with one or both of them

We have a 7 seater Picasso but the smaller versions have the same size first row of back seats.

We have a Picasso and a discovery. Love the discovery, hate the Picasso but both excellent for space!

Citroen Berlingo. It's basically a van with windows and the suspension in the back is pretty rough. But it does fit two car seats and an adult between them.

Thanks for all the replies so far, after weeks of research I knew I should have just asked here first!

It's easier if you have seat seat adult, rather than the adult squished in the middle.

I'm a size 14, and can get between 2 high backed boosters in a golf. I wouldn't want to do more than a short journey tho. It's a squeeze.

We have had a few inludibg an XJ and a RangeRover and a RangeRover Sport. All not the best mpg. I'm afraid that it will either be big or fuel efficient.

I’ve had a Picasso and it was perfect for this - 3 separate seats in the back that can all be folded down separately as well.

I’ve since had a Ford C-Max which I think is a bit less roomy in the back.

I have an Astra with three car seats in the back, (6 year old in a high back booster and three year old twins) if I need to drive an extra adult without at least one of the kids I remove the seat behind the driver - they can sit pretty comfortably.

We now have a zafira and so far it’s great Smile

Just change your carseats to the Minikid ones or TWE. Super skinny.

VW Touran. We have a Graco forward facing seat for our two year old and a maxi cosy one for our new born. I’m 6’6’ so need the seat fully back to drive and it works fine with the forward one behind me. There’s room in the middle for my wife but obviously it takes a decent bit of acrobatics to get in there!

We also have two seats in the boot if needed.

It’s diesel, but it’s fuel economy is good, so therefore better for the environment than a low MPG petrol. You can get them with petrol engines.

I’ve managed it in a Picasso, a Zafira and an S-Max. All 3 have 3 individual full sized seats in the back.

we used to have a verso and it fits easily 2 car seats on either side and an adult in the middle. Somebody earlier said verso is not big enough but that is not the case unless the person in the middle is extremely overweight. my mum (on the chubby side) fitted easily.

I've got a touran with 3 dc in car seats - its a diesel, but is very economical for its size (average 50mpg). We wanted a petrol but there were none available at the time we bought (and I need an auto due to dodgy left knee, which narrows it down even further) and didn't have time to wait for a factory order (old car very broken). I think the petrol engine is meant to be very good, but they do seem to still be making mainly diesels.
