Ah, always do the right and honourable thing. If you are in a position of power over another this creates a duty to protect them as opposed to abusing that power. Fulfill all of your obligations, that kind of thing.

Don't be a dick and if you wouldn't want it done to someone you love, don't do it to someone else.

Ttbb: and how do you find out what is the right and honorable thing as opposed to the wrong thing?

I think very few people thin) they are lacking all honor or trying to always do the wrong thing.

I have no idea what my values are... not because I have no values but because I do not know how to put the into words.

I think my husband and kids come first for me, the love for my family of origin, the love for my country.

I do not want to waver or stagger but stand unafraid.

I want to be happy with my lot in life and try to make the best out of it... and if there is sacrifice in my life I hope I will always be able to bear it with a smile.

Often I do not live up to my values but I hope I’ll never stop trying.

I am asking because there is a difference between a man shouting „women first“ on a sinking ship and a woman shouting the same.
The first is rather noble... the second not so.

Report
NoLoveofMine · 11/11/2017 01:52

Oh, I'm happy to enlighten you that I am not so noble in your terms!

Report
Snafu1988 · 11/11/2017 01:54

@No love of mine: Well, that‘s no problem. I don‘t think I would be very noble on a sinking ship.

NoLoveofMine · 11/11/2017 01:58

I'd let the women and men save one another and head to the bar on a sinking ship. I mean, we're all going under, might as well go down pissed.

lol Sounds like a great idea. Now that you say it I think I would do the same.
Unless of course Leonardo Di Caprio (or rather that character he played in Titanic, how was he called again?) is on board. On that case I would try to get saved by him.

Be kind, and help people, especially if they are more vulnerable.
Don't be constrained by societies norms, and don't accept authority unquestioningly.

To live my life gently and with love and to help those I can along the way. Not to judge other people and to accept everyone’s life decisions so long as they cause no harm to others.

Life is precious, no matter how hard things can be, be grateful of all the little things

As someone who was once on a sinking ship trust me, honour, dignity and morals go out the window for 99% of people then. AngrySad

You have been on a sinking ship? That must have been horrible.
Now I am feeling really bad I made that Leonardo Di Caprio joke. That was just because I thought none of us had have happening that to him or her.

Protect the children.

Ah we all got off (haha) ok. Just adds to the running joke in my family of not to bring Rugger on a boat because bad things happen then. Jokes are all welcome!
I was very young and it was more awful for DM as she had to throw me overboard since she wasn't allowed jump with me and says she still remembers me screaming when she let go.
I do remember the panic and grown men pushing passed and how sheepish and quiet those people were when we were on land after though.

To be on a sinking ship with my kids would be my personal horror. Cannot even 8magine that. But I am glad everybody came off okay.
