It is in the Daily Mail,so presumably can be said without all the usual hints on threads about Corey Haim.

I think this will still get deleted regardless. Poor, poor Corey Haim :(

What is your AIBU ?

That's so hideous - I can't mentally get my head around the story

Why post that here?

Interesting that this has come out now, after all the recent discussion about CH and CF

Shouldn't have been in AIBU, but other places are so quiet during the day.

And I posted it because there have been lots of threads trying to guess who Corey Haim is talking about when he talks about his alleged rapist.

topics other than AIBU and Chat are barely used these days it seems. Not the OPs fault that its not policed. MNHQ used to move threads to the "correct" topic.

I hate the way that articles like that use sex/ rape/ sodomise interchangeably. I know even a daily mail journalist hates to repeat the same word again and again, but I think if the accusation is rape then the lack of consent, or perhaps the ability to consent in this case, and the abuse of power should by implicit at every reference.

They key word being 'allegedly' ?

Still rest assured that if this was a woman, it wouldnt be reported until conviction.

What do you hope to achieve by starting another thread about this sad case, apart from sending people to the Mail?

pipistrell · 09/11/2017 09:27

What's your problem Glad? The OP can start any thread she likes.

People are interested in the case and may want to discuss it.

MNHQ deleted all other threads except one last night to keep the discussion in one place.

Wasn't this done yesterday?

Why are media outlets using the term “sodomised”?

Anyone having sex (anal or otherwise) with a 13 year old is committing rape.

Whether CS is the guilty party or not, I have no idea. Corey Feldman clearly knows who it is though, so one sincerely hopes he will speak up if the news sources have it wrong! CF’s reaction to this breaking may tell us all we need to know.

As I said on the other thread, it's online detective threads like this that make it so difficult for famous people to have a fair trial. If the jury can't be unbiased, you risk innocent people being found guilty or guilty people being let off because they can't have a fair trial. If it bothers you, shut up and let the professionals do their job IMO.

In this case as it was so many years ago, the statute of limitations may have run out anyway, if it applies to this sort of issue, but as a general point it's worth remembering!

your thread titled seems odd - almost salacious - i'm sure you didn't mean it to be

I'm not sure what the discussion is - unless you think people will defend CS

I have known of this for years now but what totally makes me believe it is what Denise Richards has said upon their divorce.

Finally Hollywood's worst kept open secret is busted. I feel so sorry for Corey Haim.

I didn't see any other threads about this. I did check first. I did not know any threads had been deleted. I don't actually spend my life on MN.

I have up till this thread posted things in the correct place. Which often means threads disappear with no comments on them at all.

drunk well it's doubtful there will be a conviction considering the victim is dead and the crime has passed statute of limitations.

Besides it's well known that Corey Haim was raped as part of a peadophile sex ring. It has always been the perpetrators identity which was kept under wraps.

Statue of limitations have run out in the US. So no prosecutions are endangered here. Yes didn't mean title to be salacious. Basically should have said Charlie Sheen exposed as allegedly raping 13 year old boy.

I included the DM link because I assume because the DM has published it, it is now safe to share here. And legally best done as a link to a published article. No need to click on the link and read the article.

There won't be a trial regardless, fair or otherwise.

I was shocked to read that people in Hollywood who work with children have no DBS check, and that there are people working with kids who are convicted pedophiles.

Maybe not for CS. But you see time and time again - e.g. With the McCanns. People on the internet set themselves up as judge, jury and executioner, and it makes it much harder for actual justice to be done. I just think it's worth people bearing it in mind before indulging in what is often gossip or armchair detective work.

Report
brasty · 09/11/2017 09:50

Yes it should be borne in mind. But give me credit, I am aware of that.
