AIBU?

To be massively annoyed at Amazon prime

So I placed my order and promised delivery today. At 11.43 I got confirmation my order was out for delivery. At 21.42 I got a message saying "we tried to deliver your order but failed. There has been someone at home all day and I have an instruction set to leave in a safe place if not in. So clearly they haven't tried to deliver my order- they just haven't bothered! This is not the first time ive had failed deliveries so I'm paying £80 for "guaranteed" next day delivery on Prime which actually doesn't happen - anyone else had this issue?

They had a fire at their depot in Birmingham yesterday. Wonder if it was to do with that?

Had this before. Called them and they redelivered same day

Yep, exact same thing has happened to me 3 times in the past 3 weeks - today I had 4 items due to be delivered - one needed to be signed for, I got an email saying delivery had failed. The other 3 items were apparently left 'with a neighbour' - I'm in a block of 6 flats, and the delivery driver would have had to walk past my front door (and cupboard next to it) to get to 'a neighbour'. No one rang my doorbell or knocked on my door. I was in all day, and on the previous 2 times when this has happened. Phoned Amazon, and they have refunded me for the items left with the 'neighbour', and the other item will be delivered tomorrow. I hope.

Btw amazon prime isn't always guaranteed next day delivery!

Complain, they usually give you an extra month of prime for free.

I had that once, with the message late in the evening. They certainly did not come to the house because we have a CCTV camera that is triggered by visitors and it only recorded the postman. I reckon the delivery person just had too many deliveries to finish that day as they always seem to be in a rush to get them all done.

Never believe tracking. Never believe Amazon. Certainly never believe DPD or Hermes. Prime is rubbish. Three items in 2 weeks (one of which paid extra tenner for next day delivery before 1) have gone awol. I too received 'sorry you were out' emails, I wasn't. Upon losing my shit with Amazon they confessed it was a 'scanning issue' and the item was either lost/ enroute/ misplaced/ not left depot (depending on which person/ version of events you choose to believe).
Come back postman pat all is forgiven and let's get rid of these incompetent arse wipes. Sorry am full of rage as I really needed that stuff on time.
YANBU.

I will phone them tmrw for sure. Have let it go in the past but this one is most disappointing as my friend goes back to her own country permanently this week and I wanted to be able to give her the gift before she went. And before I get flamed for not sorting it sooner it wasn't possible to do that!!

I would hazard a guess that it’s the courier - dpd usually - at fault, and a lazy driver can’t be arsed to finish his route! I’ve had this, and had a photo of god knows where as proof or an attempt at delivery! It turned up the next day.

Email them via the website or do an online chat. Same happened to me - package “disappeared” they reordered and it turned up 3 days later. They gave me a months free Prime.

I had something booked to be delivered to work. I was informed it was “handed to Dave in the mailroom”. Nice try but we have no mailroom and (almost uniquely I imagine) no Dave.

I agree it's most likely the courier that's the issue - but still my contract is with Amazon so I'll be letting them know! A months free prime won't go amiss Wink

Agree with this, I got 15 months for the price of 12 last year because of various deliveries going astray. Pull them up on it every time, I've found they are usually very apologetic if you are a prime customer. But I've found that actually for the number of packages I order from Amazon, the overwhelming majority do arrive on time (and they deliver on Sundays which is fab)

Ugh. I've had problems with delivery companies flat out lying about delivering items to our house. But they keep doing it!

NotYoonique · 07/11/2017 23:04

Had this the other day, I put in a complaint and it arrived later that day. Really does my head in when I ask for something to come on a certain day and sit about waiting and they lie and don't show up

Do you think it makes a difference how close to the depot you are? I hardly ever have any late or missed deliveries and I’m very close to the Croydon distribution centre.

Amazon Logistics are shite.

50% of my orders fail to be delivered next day. I usually get an email at 5pm to tell me nobody was home, although it’s been as early as 1pm.

One time they threw my package over my fence and it was hidden in a bush, whilst I was told it was delivered to my mail room... on another occasion they knocked on my neighbours door, who pointed to our house, but rather than deliver it, he threw it over HER fence!

They are beyond shit.

I've had the same problem. I ordered 2 items on Sunday for delivery Monday as I knew I would be home all day. I made s point of only using prime items but only 1 item arrived an hour and 25 mins later was promised delivery today but still not got it 😡

I have always had my deliveries the next day, they always leave them in my safe place if I am not home. I have never had a problem at all, well other than me ordering something on a Saturday and expecting it to be delivered on a Monday, when DP is at work and it arriving on a Sunday!!

MammaTJ · 07/11/2017 23:13

I order a lot through Amazon and rarely have problems with Prime, but I tend to get deliveries to an Amazon Locker or collect from a local shop to be sure I don't miss anything and I imagine the couriers are much more inclined to make sure they get those ones to the right place and on time.
