I had to post this to the most looked at place on mn so sorry its not as on the AIBU topic.
its about louix theroux docs.the one hes just showed on bbc on anorexia.
my god.i felt my heart in my mouth the whole way through.
its nothing like ive seen before.like his other work he showed the truth.he showed the nooks and crannies most other docs shy away from.
and louix he was so caring and delicate.
wow.
but shit.
people really have no idea.
I think school.doctors.everyone should be made to see this.
ouch.
PS if you have come on here and suffering.and you know you can be triggered.dont don't don't watch this without support or for-thought.please.its a very difficult viewing.and a triggered person will be triggered to some extent.
take care all beautiful people.
I'm so sorry to all those suffering,
from this.and anything.

I have a family member in the grip of an ED. I couldn't get past the first 15 minutes.
It's a terrible terrible illness.

I have suffered from eating disorders since I was 13 and was first hospitalised.
I have heard so many positive feedback on that documentary and although I normally stay clear of media that shows anorexia, I am really considering watching this.

freshprincesit stopped many times. big hugs to you and your family.you can do this.
pinkliqourice do take care with yourself though.if you have known your illness to work on you because of these things in the past just be watchful.its beautifully done but still has those bits the other doco has and almost harder because its more truthful with them. sending you big hugs.keep fighting hun. you can do this

@kateandme

Thankyou, I will watch it with my DP.
I think truthful is the best way, so often anorexia films or documentary’s seems to promote or glamorise it.
Or even just minimise the illness, which is the worst.

yes pink ithink your dp will get lots of learning from it too.
your very right in how other docs do it.and media etc.its so full of bullshit.i think this is why I was able to watch it.if it was hard and the usual bollox of would have stopped.they really usually just anger the hell out of me!
this was stripped back to the literal pain of it all.its no a show future or happy ending though so it tough viewing.
I did almost wonder any times wehther louix has had some more interest or loved one with this though.he has usually got a tongue in cheak in her program doesn't he.but he was so delicate wit these girls I found myself wantig him to give me a big hug too and him one in return.he was very very empathetic.and sensitive.

Why would they be drunk or illiterate?

They have posted about a really sensitive and important subject in an extremely thoughtful and an intelligent way.

You however seem disgusting and insensitive either discuss the thread like a grown up or fuck off somewhere else with your rudeness and ignorance.Wine

Maybe written English isn't their forte Menin or they are using a handy device to use the forum rather than a full screen to ensure accurate layout?
Don't let that stop you being a nob though....

I like Louie but I haven't watched yet.
Don't know owt about ED but I'm looking forward to his way of probing without intrusion.

@Meninist

You should watch it, you clearly have no idea.
Trust me teacher, doctors etc do often really have no idea. Their are teacher and doctors like you that worsen the illness.
However their are people like the OP and Louis Theroux who show compassion and sensitivity and these kinds of people are the only reason I am still alive.

Totally with meninist but just assumed the OP was young, as it sounds like something that is written on instagram.

There has been some other threads about this, and the others in the series which are under TV on here. Wide range of views.

@Meninist

You honestly are disgusting.

There are teachers.

Maybe I am too angry with your insensitivity to proof read and type carefully?
Maybe I missed years of schooling and education as I was in and out of hospital and eating disorder clinics?

Caulk did you understand what the OP was saying?
Yes?
Then job done

This is obviously a subject really close to OP’s heart
I would be ashamed to agree with Meninist in any way

I am so cross about this and I love Pedant’s Corner
There is a time and a place and this isn’t it unless you want to be seen to spectacularly miss the point

OP and others, I have no experience of this issue other than having had a friend who suffered badly
I send you good wishes and hope that the programme helps you

IamEarthymama · 06/11/2017 14:20

I asked for it Meninist’s post to be deleted as I felt it was totally inappropriate and would derail the thread
Hope that’s ok

I am grateful that this is available in other areas so I can watch it too. It's hard watching though :(

A friend of a friend's 15 yo daughter died of bulimia complications over the summer - she had heart failure because her electrolytes were out of whack. So so sad. The doctors didn't do enough checks on her to see that she was in imminent danger :(

So much more needs to be done in this field.
