AIBU?

I'm joking but - how can you go upstairs and not notice this pile of shit that needs to be taken upstairs too? (Pic)

OK I'm not house proud at all but bits n bobs on the bottom of the stairs annoy me. It doesn't annoy anyone else it seems.... DH, and DC 13, 11 and 9.

This is as I said lighthearted - but I'm looking at random stuff from where I type. Everyone has trekked up n down several times.

It's like the elephant on the stairs. Anyone else??

I’m loving those boots OP

Yes! My stairs always look like that too & DH will step over things unless I remind him why they're there!

Oh my goodness...you must have pinched my DH and children? Surely my lot are the only frustrating twits who don't notice stuff like this?!?!

😂😂😂 yours is definitely not the only family op. My dc also seem blind when it comes to moving things into their proper places.

Happens all the time in my house. I've left a pile of towels on the stairs before (3 folded towels spreading almost the entire width of the stairs) and both my DH and DS have made the effort to step right over them but claim they didn't realise they were to go upstairs! Aargh!

One of my mantras is "everytime you go upstairs, take something with you". I could be speaking a foreign language.

Note - I'm now thinking about doing an experiment of piling stuff up on the stairs until we can walk up or down anymore...

Exactly the same happens here. I'm the only one who takes anything upstairs. It literally stays their for weeks and gets added to but never moves unless I move it.

Have this in my house and have adult children they will leave it there for days until l crack and dump it outside their rooms.

Never mind the mess. Love the boots!

I binned some stuff off the stairs once. I'd told them several times over the course of a week that their stuff was each on a separate step to be taken up. One dc's (age 15 so old enough to know better) pile was left for two weeks. I binned it. She didn't notice for another two weeks.

Obviously I checked it wasn't really important stuff, or things that were necessary to replace.

I leave stuff at the bottom of the stairs to take up next time I go. I leave other peoples stuff there to take up the next time they go too. I am the only one who ever takes anything up. I feel your pain OP!

A pair of loosely folded Nike bottoms has been added to the stair above the photo. There are now only 4 stairs empty with only carpet fluff on. No one else in the house has noticed.
I've had wine so now I'm finding it amusing

I have this problem too. What I don't have is your boots. I need them.

Op that looks like the bottom of my stairs. We even have the same carpet Shock

I think it's a game "see how little we can take upstairs before mom loses her shit with us about it"

I'm pleased to see that other people use their stairs as a static and opportunistic mode of transport to make stuff go upstairs.

Re the boots - there weren't many pairs left today.

It's known as "stair crap" in our house. Currently there are four books and a pile of paperwork. Every now and then I crack and threaten to chuck it away unless the owners move it.

Report
Borntoflyinfirst · 04/11/2017 21:31

That’s a far smaller pile than is currently on my stairs!

Sometimes I try to leave it there to see how long it would actually take - but they just seem to step over it and carry on. Heaven help me if I ‘nag’ them to take their own stuff upstairs!
