Posting here for traffic so yes IABU for that!

Husband just noticed this in the mirror, it's just under his lip btw.

He does suffer from cold sores but always on the top lip, but we thought it could be that. But then it looks pussy. Ingrown hairs? neither of us has seen anything like this before. tempted to squeeze it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Blanca87 Sat 04-Nov-17 19:02:08

Herpes?

HoneyBoo269 Sat 04-Nov-17 19:03:27

Impetigo maybe?

LuckyAmy1986 Sat 04-Nov-17 19:03:57

Isn't that just coldsores?

Allthewaves Sat 04-Nov-17 19:04:44

Is it itchy

LuckyAmy1986 Sat 04-Nov-17 19:05:32

Not itchy!

Allthewaves Sat 04-Nov-17 19:05:57

Does look like it's the hair follicles that's infected. I'd pluck out the hairs and dab with tea tree oil

Maelstrop Sat 04-Nov-17 19:06:11

Treat like a cold sore, I'd say it is one. I get them a lot, a mate gets them up her nose! If he already has them, it's likely they have sprouted elsewhere. It's a virus that lives up the nerve and if he had even a tiny break in his skin last time he had a coldsore, it's likely to be the same thing.

I get nose colds sores and they itch terribly

Allthewaves Sat 04-Nov-17 19:07:29

Sorry just got bigger picture on ipad. Looks like coldsore not infected follicles

LuckyAmy1986 Sat 04-Nov-17 19:08:06

Thing is he only gets one cold sore once a year or less, and it's always, always in the same place. Could it really be one? He hasn't had one for about 2 years now

LuckyAmy1986 Sat 04-Nov-17 19:08:53

Forgive me for being naive, it's just I don't know anyone else who gets them except him and they are always very dry looking and he says very itchy

deepestdarkestperu Sat 04-Nov-17 19:09:09

Looks like a coldsore to me. DP gets them. You can get them anywhere around the mouth/lips/nose area.

LuckyAmy1986 Sat 04-Nov-17 19:09:20

Maelstrop, up her nose?! Did not know that was possible!!!

LightastheBreeze Sat 04-Nov-17 19:11:36

Cold sore. I used to get just one spot on my lip but if I get a cold I get about 3 up one nostril after my colds better

laptopshmaptop Sat 04-Nov-17 19:11:46

Any pain/tingling! It looks very similar to the start of shingles when I had it on my forehead (minus the hair obvs grin)

LuckyAmy1986 Sat 04-Nov-17 19:15:45

No pain or tingling! Oh dear, hope it's a cold sore rather than shingles!!

celticmissey Sat 04-Nov-17 19:16:36

Is it painful underneath- possibly impetigo which can be contagious-

LuckyAmy1986 Sat 04-Nov-17 19:18:39

No, no pain, he says he wants to itch it now but to be honest I really my chin feels really itchy now just thinking about it haha!

ILoveMillhousesDad Sat 04-Nov-17 19:19:58

I thought impetigo too

ILoveMillhousesDad Sat 04-Nov-17 19:21:19

envy vom. DO NOT GOOGLE IMPETIGO

MikeUniformMike Sat 04-Nov-17 19:23:54

dab with vodka/surgical spirit/aftershave.

laptopshmaptop Sat 04-Nov-17 19:28:02

Mine was tingly (possibly could describe as itchy) to begin with then became more painful (especially when I accidentally caught a bit in my hairline with my brush shockconfused)

But it looked exactly like that - sort of fluid filled blisters joined together. Hope it’s not shingles, but might be worth looking into. If I recall correctly, shingles is only contagious to those who haven’t had chicken pox, and infected folks shouldn’t go near immunosuppressed people and pregnant women.

MsHarry Sat 04-Nov-17 19:29:47

Shingles? They come in a line. Would be quite painful though.
