AIBU?

Amazon delivery in no packaging

Aibu to think items I have ordered should come in packaging!!!

Ordered the kids a board game, it came this morning via the postman with just a delivery label and various bar codes slapped directly on the box.

The kids have seen it so no way it can be set aside for Christmas. Because they have seen it it can't go back - we can't gift it to someone else as it has massive labels stuck on it!

I am really cross about it, it was nearly £20 which may not seem alot but it is to us.

Called Amazon and all they could say was they would pass it up to team leader to make sure it didn't happen again...

I am worried now that other bits a pieces I have ordered will arrive in the same state.

Just return it.

I think you get the option when you buy to not have it in extra packaging - check when you order again from them.

Blimey Amazon go from one extreme to another! I had an umbrella delivered in a box that would have held 20 umbrellas.

I've had this with a nerf gun. Refused to take it.
If I've paid full price I want it sticker free

I had this with my child's birthday present last year. It was a big Mobilo safari kit. He was with me when it arrived. I was furious. It has never happened again. Sorry your Christmas surprise was ruined.

Things that don’t come in boxes usually tell you in the description of the item and there’s an option at checkout to have it sent in an amazon box. Sometimes it’s not very clear though and I don’t always notice!

I have never had anything delivered with a box or at least a bag

I love it when I don’t have wasted packaging to deal with! In this instance just return it for a replacement and specify it come in a box.

Can't return it as the boys have seen it and it's something they really wanted and was on their Christmas lists...

I had this with a very big Lego set, for Ds2s birthday. Amazon really didn't seem to give a crap when I complained. I couldn't get it from anywhere else in time, or it'd have gone back.

I had this last year with my son's PS4! Luckily he was at school when it was delivered or Christmas would have been a bit less of a surprise Hmm

Op, can you say it's a present for a friend's/colleague's child, delivered to your house so they don't see it? I've had to use that one on occasions when I've accidently left presents laying around!

There’s usually something in the description which says “it may be obvious what is in this parcel, would you like it to be wrapped in amazon packaging?” And then you have to tick a box.

Yep. I had this with a National Geographic Fossil kit. I wonder if it is because they can’t charge extra for P&P if the recipient is on Amazon Prime?
Either way I was unimpressed, not that it mattered to the seller or the website. Hmm

I had this recently with a science kit I bought for my nephew for Christmas. The address label was stuck strait onto the cellophane wrapper with no other packaging. So when I removed the label, it removed the cellophane. I could not return it as I had got a massive discount on it - so much so that it took them ages and ages to actually send it. Not sure if it was a mistake price or what, but as they finally honoured it in the end, I wasn't going to risk it! I will just wrap the box in wrapping paper - everything inside is sealed anyway. However, I would have been hugely annoyed if it had been for one of my own children and they saw it. There was no indication at all when I bought it that it would come like this.

Same here last year for a Christmas present, cane in outer box only. Problem is I get my deliveries to my parents office as there's always someone there, and it was DFs Christmas present! Luckily DM saw it first and hid it Grin

I had my sons birthday present delivered like that. It was a slime making kit, covered in cellophane and then the postage labels stuck on. I had to unwrap the cellophane, opening the present before I re wrapped it for him. I’ve never had that before, like others have said, it’s normally in a box far too big, stuffed with brown paper. I hope they sort it in time for Christmas deliveries.

Why don't you sent it back and have the kids see you return it/go with you to post office etc.
Then Father Christmas can bring another one on Christmas?

I had this yesterday, ordered my nephew a kids discovery telescope for Christmas. No packaging just a massive sticker slapped across the front that I can’t get off Angry

I had this with a TV and a blueray player.
Needless to say it took three goes before either item actually arrived both having been 'lost' during delivery a couple of times.

We had this recently for a dinosaur that we ordered. When it arrived th box was very slightly battered and had the stickers on. We complained and Amazon refunded us the cost of the toy, around £40 and told us to keep it.

I wish they did the same with our deliveries. I find it ridiculous especially when councils don't have the money for refusal that amazon wrap tiny items in multiple boxes x20 the size of the item like Russian dolls. Why can't your children accept it as an early Christmas present? First world problem, surely?

I like it when things come like that but it wouldn't be hard for them to have it as an option at the till so we could chose.

My mega pack of Tena lady had the same treatment & my neighbours took it in. Grin
