Holiday cottage

We went away for the weekend for 3 nights and on the second evening the range cooker stopped working half way through cooking dinner for 14 people. We called the caretaker and he was around the corner and turned up straight away and within an 1.5 hrs and brought in a much smaller cooker.

However the problems also seemed to have tripped something else and there was no hot water the rest of the evening or next morning and when we called up we had to wait for over an hour for someone to come and sort out.

This is really good service, but also annoyed on a three night stay we have had to waste time waiting for things to be fixed / sorted. Plus as we organised it for friends we also feel responsible.

Do you think we should ask for a discount / refund on the holiday.

Just so I'm not drip feeding the holiday was booked through a big national company who own the cottages, so it won't be an individual person that's out of pocket

Yes. We arrived at our booked holiday cottage (for 13) in January to find no heating. We had to wait until the next morning to have it fixed. The owner offered an immediate £100 refund for our inconvenience.

I would. You didn't get the full enjoyment of the facilities you paid for. I think a partial refund is reasonable.

no they should be offering you a huge discount/refund .Or another weekend. Yes they tried to sort it out which is to their credit, but you were badly inconvenienced.

Feel guilty about making a fuss as the caretaker has brought us round a bottle of wine and told us to stay as late as we want tomorrow!
