After arguing with our utility company who say we can't possibly use as much electricity as I have worked out we use, I googled to look at the national average. We use almost double 😳
Our annual electricity is 8000kwh and gas is 13000 kwh.
We live in a four bed semi and use ALOT of appliances several times a day... tumble dryer, I'm looking at you!
Our energy company maintains we use 3500kwh electric per year despite the fact our meter reading and recent bills suggest entirely differently.

I'm mortified at our double than average usage and have decided to turn over a new eco friendly leaf!

Tumble driers totally nom on electricity. I use mine sparingly because it’s scary how much that wheel whizzes round when it’s on. Maybe once a week I’ll stick it on for socks n knickers type stuff. A dry towel put in with the washing can cut the time it needs though.

Those ruddy outside lights use a fair bit as well for some reason.

We apparently used over 18,000kwh from June 2016 to June 2017

We use about 6000kwh per year, we have a big farmhouse and lots of appliances - try to only use the tumble dryer when really necessary but with 5 (6 when DS1 is home) in the house there is a lot of washing/cooking/lights etc

We don't have gas but use oil for the boiler so I can't equate what that would be.

Star that seems quite a lot for one year.

I guess we run a tumble, have loads of washing due to DC, run air con in the summer, we work from home with several servers and lots of computer and audio equipment...

I'm looking into solar.

We are guilty of running the tumble five times a day sometimes.
And the dishwasher goes on three times a day on average 😳

We used 2810kwh in electric and 16415kwh in gas for Sept 2016-Sept 2017 according to our annual statement.

We've got a 4 bed detached house but it is only 6 years old and very well insulated.

No tumble drier and dishwasher only gets used if we've had guests. I do a wash every other day at the moment but that will increase no doubt as the DC (3.5 and 6 months) get older.

2000kWh electric and 24000kWh gas (winter heating only 😱 in 4 bed Victorian semi)
BUT we have solar panels and are cost neutral at end of year.

@gamerchick we have three kids under four.. sometimes it's convenience over expense. Until the expense bites you in the bum!
