Husband comes in from work, holds baby and therefore cannot do anything else despite the fact that every day I take care of a five year old and a three week old while doing the lion's share of the housework (as always, and despite me earning main income working far longer hours when not on mat leave).

I attempted to have a bath. DD1 comes up and we chat and play then she refuses to go down stairs. She's my world but she's an incessant talker and won't leave my side all day. I needed a break. She won't listen to a word DH says and he's watching tv so has no inclination to get her. Today I have done three loads of washing, dried on line and tumbler, prepped meals, done constant dishes, worked on DD1's spelling and writing, walked to soft play and back in between demand feeding newborn. Oh and made beds, tidied bedrooms, taken out rubbish, sorted dogs, etc.

We have guests coming over tomorrow so mentioned we need to tidy. He's aghast at doing anything while holding the baby. Vague offer to run Hoover around but only once I come down despite baby being very placid and will happily go down for ten mins or so.

Cheeky fucker said the house looked like Beirut the other day ( a basket of washing, some toys out when I'd had to go out all day to entertain DD1, send paperwork he'd neglected for three months, return overdue library books, go shopping) when he hadn't lifted a finger except to go to work where he has time to chase ppi claims and holiday companies).

All this while I do most night feeds and even if he does he races the baby back once he needs to go to get ready for work/do anything else bar
hold her.
A few days ago I finally emerged shellshocked from a crap night to a bomb site downstairs. he'd managed breakfast, leisurely coffee, bath and ironed shirt, to the. watch a film before work but happily sat amongst chaos. Totally shit.

I would have a strong word on him pulling his finger out. Even if you have to list everything to make it very clear to him
