Too late for trick or treating now??

Is it too late now do you reckon? There was a stabbing near me (not my road) so took 2 hours to get home as all roads closed. Do you think it's too late now. We had a knock about 10 mins ago so I assumed people are still out. Just wondering.

No I'd say it's fine. I expect trick or treaters until about 7:30/8.

We went out 5-6.30pm with my two, but the lights go out at 7.30pm here so we don't answer the door anymore then. So there's still time

No. They are still beating a path to my door. 🤡🤡

There's still people out here but I've run out of sweets so lights are back off again

Just run out of sweets, so pumpkins in, and lights off... Half of the school I teach in have been round, so it's my turn for feet up, and my dinnerWine

I will be bring in my decorations at around 8.30 but I don't have small DCs. I think we've had the main callers though; it seemed to peak between 6 and 6.30.

I completely disagree with trick or treating. We teach our children to stay away from strangers and then encourage them to knock on doors. What's more, they're threatening householders. My neighbour is an elderly lady and she's terrified on Halloween night.

It's not too late in terms of time but depending on where you live people may be out of sweets. We've had a constant stream of callers since 5 and are down to our last few packs of sweets (we started with 100)

The kids don't do any threatening round here. They tell a joke and get a treat in return

I say about 7.30 or shortly after for mine. I'm conscious people may have young children they are trying to get to bed.

They are taught only to go to houses with decorations out or in windows, no harrassing people that don't want callers here. I go with them anyway and stand a bit away to supervise.

MadMags · 31/10/2017 19:14

Yeah, the kids around here aren't that threatening in their fairy wings and batman masks. Hmm

We've had two lots in the last 45 minutes, my daughter and her friends are still out and about, expecting them finished by around 8.

Standard of jokes is very poor this year though!! (We're in Scotland, we don't do sweets with menaces and make you work for your fun size Maltesers)

Fine, still plenty out on my estate and my DC are still out somewhere

I'd take the pumpkin in at about 8:30 or when we run out of treats, whichever is sooner.

We switch our lights off/bring the pumpkin in at 7 as the DC go to bed then. I can still hear them outside though.
We haven’t had any threatening ones... they’ve all been young children dressed as ghosts/pumpkins/witches with their parents hovering behind them!

No threatening around here, and kids only knock at houses with pumpkins or other Halloween decorations. There's a real community feel.

Perfect time to go trick or treating. I All those people who over bought are desperately handing out massive portions of sweets about now.

In my experience kids stop turning up the minute I send DH to the shop for more sweets. Its definitely slowed down here now, I’ll be turning the lighting effects off and taking in the pumpkins at 8.

I left a shoebox outside full of sweets & a lantern on a little table. 2 packets left after 2 hours.

I put a note on the door saying take what you want.

I could hear the parents saying - take one only Halloween Shock

I saw a boy go flying off on his scooter, I think he took 20 more than one Halloween Hmm

No one rang the doorbell - very peaceful.
