DH loves Halloween. He's carved pumpkins with the dcs, decorated the front door and filled a bowl full of sweets. Lovely. The door has been going nonstop since I got home from work. I have loads to do. I hate Halloween. DH has gone off to work his late shift mumbling about missing all the fun..WIBU to bring the bloody pumpkins in, turn the lights off and enjoy my evening in peace (with sweets!)? I realise I am the Grinch of Halloween, surely I can't be the only one!

No of course not. We are off out to a gig in an hour - will miss it all thankfully. I will be wearing my cape though.

bring them in, relax and enjoy your night! I won't be running up and down the stairs opening the door that's for sure 😂

No. About to bring by mine in myself when DS goes to bed (humouring trick or treaters was purely for his benefit, plus I am almost out of sweets).

Also he is going to bed so early because he still hasn't adjusted to changes time. IMm not a grinch I swear.

I absolutely hate it. I'm grumpy and antisocial after a long day. Hopefully the haribo will go well with a large Wine

I’m currently bed bound due to illness. My DH hasn’t got back from work yet and forgot to put a no trick or treating sign on the door this morning. I’m dreading kids knocking and sending the dog crazy when I can’t get down stairs to answer the door. I usually love Halloween, but not this year.

Also, most of the "kids" we've had have been far too old to be trick or treating, IMO. Young children I mind less, but teenagers? Really?

I've got a huge pile of sweetie bags and no-one has come near so far. Am now dreading getting rid of a shit load of chocolate and haribo without my kids seeing them and scoffing the lot!

Mine are grown up so I have the blinds down and the outside lights off.

call me a Halloween Grinch too I feel you like, I have done enough Halloween years in the past. Conscience is clear.

Well we only had two knocks at the door and they cleaned me out! I had a huge bucket and the kids just scooped handfuls and handfuls! Never seen anything like it. Had to bring the pumpkin in and turn my Halloween lights off.

I'm thinking of putting a sign up saying that any trick or treaters who knock during Bake Off will get haunted.

We’ve no decorations and my baby is frightened so I haven’t answered the door. Until one little darling shouted through the door I was a bitch, at which point I opened it, told him how rude he was and then told his mother who dragged him home...

I've two baskets by the front door...the nice polite children knocking quietly get sweets...the horrors kicking / banging/ ringing the bell over and over/ shouting / being rude...get raisins...I think when you can't find outfits to fit ( height wise) there lies the clue it's for younger children..I think I've lost a lb tonight with all the up down over the dog gate😀

I've just started a batch of medication that's completely wiped me out. I don't have the energy to take down all the decorations!! A friend has taken the only one left in the house who goes trick or treating to her house- I'm now waiting with baited breath for either DH or ds1 to come home.

So I think yanbu

I had a big teenage group, one of whom asked if I had a spare bag for all his treats (I didn't, and was holding a baby and a basket of sweets so didn't fancy going to try to find one).
Muttered 'thanks for nothing!' and left the gate open on his way out.
We've run out of sweets now so I've just brought the pumpkin in (and closed the gate!)

Hopefully we won't get any teenagers here. My DS attends the local secondary school and they've actually had the police round telling the kids they're too old for trick or treating and how scary it can be for the vulnerable and elderly and the teachers have been giving out 'it's not cool at your age' type messages too.

Surely people don;t knock if there are no pumpkins outside? I thought that etiquette was now an established thing?
