What was the first purchase you made for your first baby, and how many weeks pregnant were you when you made it?

16 weeks and we brought EVERYTHING (pram, car seats, Moses basket, bedding for cot and Moses basket, swing, bouncer, a ton of clothes, play mat and a few random bits) all in one hit!

A pack of 3 vests after the 20 week scan. Then nothing else until 35 weeks.

Not sure with our first, I think it was a neutral onsie and was definitely after 20 weeks. We'd been given many of the big items so clothing was definitely what we bought ourselves. After suffering a miscarriage previously, didn't want to get anything until passed the 24 weeks part at least.

This baby, my partner got a bit excited by a lovely blanket around 14 weeks and bought it. I was a bit anxious as I was willing to wait (like until at least 8 months gone) to buy anything this time. We bought some new vests last week at 30 weeks, but have no intention of getting anything else until the end of this month. However, can't leave it too long as need to sort Xmas as well.

Something decorative for the nursery when we were on holidays at 11 weeks (as we would never be back there, realistically).

After that, I think we waited for a good few months before we bought anything else. I do know that the pram/buggy/car-seat combo was one of the next purchases, probably around the 7 month mark, but I am a bit hazy after that (DD is almost 12!).

Neutral baby sleepsuits immediately after 12 week scan, then nothing else until about 30 weeks.

A teeny babygrow in the Disney store just days after finding out I was pregnant. It wasn’t planned and those who knew were deeply disappointed in me and mostly negative. That babygrow meant hope and positivity for me throughout the pregnancy. Everyone else came round, but it was my little gift to my baby who I just knew would be the best thing ever.

Shame I had absolutely zero experience with babies- the babygrow fastened halfway down the back only, so was nigh on impossible to get on a teeny baby- and DS cane out almost 10lb anyway so teeny wasn’t ever fitting!!! 😂

@Isadora2007, that really made me laugh! I can just imagine it now.

Hilarious, lovely responses - so nice to hear.

There's a Mothercare just around the corner from our hospital, so we went in after our 12 week scan and chose a little outfit each for the baby. Mine was baby's coming home from hospital outfit, and is now in the memory box.

Around 27/28 weeks started doing hospital bag shopping as I was told to be ready early. Very soon after we went to M&P (Christmas sales) and ordered everything - it got delivered a week before ds arrived (4 weeks before due date).

Ooh me too, but i'm now 28 weeks and literally the only other thing I've bought is a second hand Tuppence and Crumble star wrap off ebay. I've done lots of research online, but only just about plucking up the courage to go and look at baby things this weekend!

A small white babygro-in secret! I was only 15 and my parents were trying to force me into having my baby adopted out. (They didn’t succeed) My daughter is now 25 and I can’t get rid of her 😉

I bought this book - when it snows - it’s got such beautiful drawings and I know it won’t be usable properly for a year or so but I couldn’t resist. I’m also a total book nerd so a book felt appropriate lol.

A little Harry Potter onesie when I was about 15 weeks, then most other stuff after my 20 week scan. I hated gender neutral clothes and accessories so wanted to find out the sex before buying anything.

Oh actually, having read follow on posts to my one, I'm fibbing. The outfits following our 12 week scan was the first things we bought for our baby. My first baby related purchase was a pregnancy photo journal thing and a baby names book.

The journal was amazing I love looking back at it now. I took a bump photo every week from six weeks then I had them all developed and stuck they in (got all Blue Peter-y about it!) I would never have shared my bump shots with the wider world but it's a nice keepsake for me. I'll link it here. But be warned - I had all the time in the world to complete it as a first timer. I definitely wont have time to do it with my second when I have it! Grin In fact, I haven't updated it with all the 'firsts' stuff at all - no time since baby was born (baby who is 19m now I should add!).

A little babygro after our 20 week scan. I had a miscarriage in my first pregnancy and was really superstitious about having anything in the house, but DH persuaded me to try to start enjoying it after 20 weeks. Am 28 weeks now and have bought a few more outfits here and there, and ordered the pram, but otherwise am holding off to 34/5 weeks.

A little bear when we were in Berlin the week I found out I was pregnant after 4 years ttc.
It was something physical for me to hold while I processed the reality of actually being pregnant.

A pair of pyjamas. I must have been over 20 weeks because it was around Christmas 2014. I bought them because I have a pair almost exactly the same and I thought it would be funny and cute to have a picture of the baby and I matching (and it was)!

SIL bought nursery furniture and a pram at about 5 weeks pregnant. DN was kitted out with EVERYTHING, including a high chair, by about 24 weeks pregnant! Second time round though she got spooked and barely told anyone she was pregnant before the 20 week scan.

I didn't buy a thing with DS1 until 36 weeks pregnant, although we'd been given some hand made baby blankets by that stage. Bought white babygros and vests and a cellular blanket. That was it til I got him in my arms though!
