To ask if anyone in rl has ever actually met anyone who is 'offended by a poppy?

My Facebook feed is full of memes declaring that people are going to 'wear their poppy with pride and they don't care who they offend'. My nan is the latest culprit and I've called her out on it. Cue lots of her friends spouting racist bollocks about people not being able to sell them blah blah. My nan spouting shit about what a good heart I have because I can't see the bad in people. I'm 34. I'm not a fucking child. And breathe!

There are always stories going around at this time of year that people are banned from selling them in certain places so as not to offend (who?) it is bollocks, fake news shit. I haven't seen it yet but know I will in the next few days.

Oh it's better than that - good British (white) people aren't allowed to see then their local area because it offends 'them'. 'Them' being Muslims or anyone with brown skin. It pissed me off. It isn't true, it's a falsehood spread via social media to stir up hate and it gives me the rage.

I wear a white poppy and I have ideological issues with the messages put out at this time of year with the Royal British Legion etc, but I wouldn’t say I was offended by the red poppy. I’m offended by the actions of our Government and past Governments that it has been used to celebrate, though.

Yes, I have and I have known people to wear white poppies. But they aren't professionally offended or going around shouting at poppy sellers. I just know a lot of hippies/liberals.

I've met lots of people though who keep declaring they're 'afraid of causing offence', for example by sending a Christmas card to their Muslim neighbours.

It's bloody ridiculous and I know a lot of Muslim people who get pretty upset/embarrassed about the assumption they're so easily bloody offended.

Yes, I've known maybe a half dozen people, one of whom seem to take offense at anything, three who were Jehovah's Witnesses and made declarations against the poppy, one visitor at work (that was funny, he was spouting off at the receptionist, our MD came and escorted him from the premises, we have a huge number of ex forces employees). I'm sure I've seen others too.

Yep, I had a lecturer at uni who was a white poppy wearer and would spout about the evils of the red poppy 'glorifying war' at every opportunity. Grrr
