Thanks for putting the bloody Elf on the Shelf all over your window display with big ‘bargain!’ price tags attached to him. My DS2 (4) was thrilled and amazed to see ‘Ginger’ around so early in the year but my DS1 looked at me with big, moist, widening eyes...

“Try finding your own traditions” - do you not do Santa then? Prefer the Big Fat Festive Otter or something?

No, he’s a tyrannical little bugger who makes my head hurt finding new positions for him throughout the month of December and I would cheerfully donate him to festive landfill BUT my children totally love him and look forward to his appearance along with their advent calendar as heralding the start of Christmas. Which has apparently already started according to Ryman. JUS DISGASTING! Smile

What a load of bollocks that elf on the shelf is. YABU to expect a shop not to sell a toy.

Report
RJnomore1 · 28/10/2017 23:43

Doesn't everyone do the festive otter?

Is disgasting and improvement on discusting?

Aha - should have clarified - they weren’t selling it - they were using unpacked EOTS to sell printers and reams of paper and carry BARGAIN labels. Activities all beneath any real Santa’s Elf, as any 6yo knows.

custardlover we had an elf here one year, on top of all the other crap I had to save for and plan as a lp for Christmas it was just one more bloody thing to stress about.
At one point Elf went back to the North Pole for three days for a “workshop emergency”. The next year we received a letter from the elf to say he wouldn’t be visiting that year because ds had been so good he did not need watching Grin

I might do that and replace him with Jeff the Christmas Otter who by the way is actually a toy they can actually play with.

Can you spin it tnatbyoir elf was doing another job until he comes to you in December?
We do elf on the shelf and even my 8 year old still believes. We told them that they are toys that only come to life once they're asleep or not looking like in toy story so there never questioned that they're toys and don't move when they see them!

You know we do have traditions that are not followed by every sheep in the country
And my children would not have Christmas spoilt by finding out Santa isn't real or seeing him for sale in a toy shop or any other scenario

You definitely win. You are the most festive and the best and I am just a sheep Mum with my unoriginal ‘trying to keep Santa real’ campaign for my unimaginative little Christmas snowflakes.
