AIBU?

To think this is getting bloody ridiculous now

I am having a small Halloween party for DD and some of her friends on Monday. I've done this every year.

I went into Tesco at the start of the week and there was nothing in stock except a few costumes and some of those Halloween themed mini rolls. OK, whatever. I knew I would be in a bigger town today and thought I'd get something there.

Did I fuck. Went into four different shops, including Poundland, Asda and another Tesco. Fuck all. Loads of pumpkins outside Asda, but I had to ask for anything else - was shown one tiny bit of the seasonal aisle with a few masks and fake blood. Everything else was head to toe Christmas

Halloween isn't even here yet....all I wanted was some paper cups with fucking skulls on, and some of that spider web stuff.

The lady who helped me said they'd basically cleared out everything to make way for Christmas

I'm not a last minute shopper, it's the week before Halloween, aibu to think I should still be able to get Halloween themed tat?

I don't think I've every known so much Christmas stuff to be in the shops so early, at the expense of everything else

First world problem I know. But it's a bit bloody silly isn't it? We'll start getting bored of every seasonal celebration before the bloody date rolls round

There was loads in my Tesco today, Lidl also seem to have a good range. I have not really seen too much Christmas stuff yet.

Ocado still has some (yes I'm doing last minute shopping too). Sone towns also have dedicated Halloween shops at the moment.

There was more Halloween stuff in my local Tesco and town centre shops than I’ve ever seen before. I was walking around thinking “there’s an awful lot of Halloween stuff around”. Maybe it depends on where you are.

My local tesco had the Christmas aisle in place before there was any sign of halloween. I’d complain but I grew up in Germany and Lebkuchen (little soft gingerbread type cookies) remind me of my childhood so the earlier I can get hold of it the better for me! Smile

You learn each year to start a little bit earlier. My DC had their costumes in September.

Must be your area - both my local supermarkets have loads of Halloween crap still.

Can you get plain white plates and cups and sharpie some eyes and an “O” mouth on them so they look ghosty? 👻

They won't restock the shelves when there is only a few days until Halloween. It would be a waste of time. Can you not make the decorations out another things instead? Has your dd got her costume already?

You could always try amazon, they probably sell it all year round anyway so they definetly won't run out

YNBU. I had a chuckle to myself today in Asda. The Halloween tops were next to the Christmas jumpers.

jonsnow it was virtually non existent here until a few years ago when I found a pack in Waitrose, since then they show up most years in the seasonal aisles if you are looking for them. Currently have 3 bags of them in my cupboard and have introduced DS to them too, creating a little family tradition here Smile

You could make your own spider webs by pulling apart big cotton wool pleats? ..And recycle some of the stuff you used for last year's party?
I must admit, there wasn't much left in the Halloween aisle in our Tescos today. It was a buying frenzy.

Halloween themed food can be recreated with normal party food and a bit of imagination..if you have the patience! Halloween Grin
