Really getting wound up with stupid insensitive knobheads on Facebook who post " cancer awareness" shite like " post a black and white selfie" or "hold your finger down DONT copy and paste... I know which one of my friends will care about the devestation of cancer... "
There are always lots of people who keep this offensive bollocks going when it has NOTHING what SO EVER to do with raising awareness or raising money and they never make any link to a charity. Please, please end this...and those who think it hilarious post fake pregnancy scans and those that encourage it with a " oh😂😂 you got me there hon" should be forced to do work experience in a fertility clinic until they are cured of their &£@y moronic ways...... Phew! , I feel much better for getting that off my chest.

silverychicken Sat 28-Oct-17 21:52:22

It’s absolute garbage isn’t it...I’ve mostly stopped looking at FB. All the fake awareness posts, then the posts about if you’re not positive in my life, I’m dropping you type of thing ! , the change your profile picture to support something else devasting in the world , and post a heart of varying colours, depending which way the wind is blowing...

silverychicken Sat 28-Oct-17 21:54:00

I mostly think those type of posts, upset the people affected, not support them...and it’s all garbage on FB after all.

Iris65 Sat 28-Oct-17 21:54:43

Cut down my FB habit too. Most of it is crap or boasting.

perpetuallybewildered Sat 28-Oct-17 21:55:41

Post this in response. They annoy the life out of me.

IndianaMoleWoman Sat 28-Oct-17 21:57:37

Ignore, ignore, ignore. You have to feel sorry for the people that share this sort of nonsense. They are not being malicious and genuinely believe they are helping (even if the tone of the post they share is quite malicious, eg “only 4% of people will share this, I know who will” etc).

Tara336 Sat 28-Oct-17 22:03:43

Yay I'm not the only one sick of those posts. Don't like the oversharing of some people on fb either or the stupid cryptic posts set to public so the person that it's meant for and is clearly not a friend gets to see it, grow up!

thecakefairy Sat 28-Oct-17 22:03:47

The ones that shock me the most are when someone has taken a picture of an innocent person minding their own business and added a story like they've been racist or homophobic.
There was one with an old man on a plane that kept doing the rounds.
I have unfollowed a few people who seem to love this sort of stuff, so we're still friends but I never see their posts.

RobotGoat Sat 28-Oct-17 22:05:01

I don't get much of this on my feed, probably because most people who do it have been unfriended! But YANBU; I hate it as well. I'm thinking more of the ones that say, "Now we'll see who my true friends are/actually reads my posts." Copying your status does not prove that I care about you, and if you're the kind of person who thinks it does, then I have to wonder about the strength of our friendship in the first place!

Orangealien Sat 28-Oct-17 22:05:49

Op seriously consider deleting Facebook

It is the work of the devil.

RobotGoat Sat 28-Oct-17 22:06:52

or the stupid cryptic posts set to public so the person that it's meant for and is clearly not a friend gets to see it, grow up!

Yes to this! And to cryptic posts generally, which are then filled with comments asking what's wrong and the OP saying, "message me; don't want to talk about it on here." Don't post it on Facebook, then!

redexpat Sat 28-Oct-17 22:13:38

Dont felete fb. Just get more interesting friends.

Nofunkingworriesmate Sat 28-Oct-17 22:20:20

The vigilante type ones who want you to re post a picture of a person who has committed a crime or been racist/homophobic are so terrible, there was one where a teacher was accused of being disabilist to an autistic boy in a school production ( she wasn't at all) but it got reposted so many times the poor woman had death threats and hate from all over the world and only a few people got to read the true version of events, so damaging and such a sick thing to do to an innocent person, can't believe this shit is even legal ?

CherryChasingDotMuncher Sat 28-Oct-17 22:22:42

“Share if you hate cancer”

Well I got one love cancer so won’t be sharing 🙄 what absolute idiots.

It’s part of the “I’m such a kind person, look, here’s a meme that proves it. It took me 4 seconds for me to read it and share it, post praise here 👇🏻” phenomenon.

I bet my bottom dollar these pricks never donated a penny to cancer research.

CherryChasingDotMuncher Sat 28-Oct-17 22:27:30

YY!! I always comment the link to an article which explains why these should never be shared.

A few people on my friends list, years ago, shared pictures of two men who were allegedly James Bulger’s killers, as adults. I commented saying they are breaking the law so it’s in their interest to take it down and I got absolutely crucified for it by their friends. “Why are you protecting child killers?” hmm

What do people think they’re actually gonna do if they see these folk on the street? Are they going to beat them up? Give them what for? No. If they even noticed them what they’ll probably do is put it on Facebook that they’ve seen them.

I think I need to come of Facebook for the sake of my blood pressure

Fluffyears Sat 28-Oct-17 22:28:19

Why do they all say ‘don’t share, copy and paste!’ Does it matter? Not that i’m ever going to share or re-post that shite. There was one about if you commit suicide this is what will happen to those closest to you and you think blah...blah...blah and it’s selfish! Erm no when I tried to kill myself I thought none of that and thought I was doing everyone a favour so it wasn’t about being selfish. I nearly exploded reading it but i’m Private about that period of my life so couldn’t even tell that person that their price of shite post was offensive on many levels.

fridgepants Sat 28-Oct-17 22:29:48

The final straw for me was the stupid child abuse 'change your picture to a cartoon' meme. As someone abused in late childhood/teens, all that 'awareness' did was make people think it only happened to tots whilst reminding me of the shit I'd worked to forget every time I logged in.

fridgepants Sat 28-Oct-17 22:32:35

Oh god Cherry, they used to moan on my mum's local paper site about not being able to comment on certain news stories, especially if they involved a particular ethnic group. 'What happened to free speech?!?!?' It's called sub judice, twats.

fridgepants Sat 28-Oct-17 22:33:16

Sharing means it can be marked as spam, I think.

Nofunkingworriesmate Sat 28-Oct-17 22:35:04

Fridgepants sorry you had that experience.
who makes up this offensive shite? Why is this bollocks not shut down and offenders made to post an apology?

CherryChasingDotMuncher Sat 28-Oct-17 22:35:18

YY fridgepants If our local paper FB group reports on a live case where the victim is anonymous (such as a rape) they always warn people not to comment.

Cue a dozen total buffoons peddling conspiracy theories about being silenced and censored. No you dummies, they’re asking you to abide by the law. They’re protecting you.

Insomnibrat Sat 28-Oct-17 22:35:38

The 'post for suicide awareness, someone's always listening' ones make me rage with anger.

It's empty sentiment, I've been so fucking low and you can count the people who actually help on half of one hand. It's CERTAINLY NEVER the ones who post this shit.
It makes me rage.

sailorcherries Sat 28-Oct-17 22:38:40

I remember the video of the teacher 'not letting'the autistic boy do something in the play.
It failed to mention everything she did do beforehand.

Bloody morons sharing this crap constantly, it does nothing!

OneGreyElephantBalancing Sat 28-Oct-17 22:41:57

Agree about Suicide awareness ones. “My door is always open” fuckwittery
Someone I know posts this shit.
If I went round and said i felt like this (as i do most of the time atm unfortunately) she’d have a flip out. Only professionals really know how to handle it IME unfortunately extensive experience. If gives false information IMO.

Oh and, “please copy and paste. I think I know which of my friends will do this”

JenniferYellowHat1980 Sat 28-Oct-17 22:46:41

Ugh, agreed.

I’ve also noticed that people who share stuff about animal abuse also share Britain First shite (swiftly unfriended). There’s definitely a correlation between publicising your animal loving tendencies and being a racist. I’m not on any way suggesting that abuse of animals is anything less than disgusting, but there is an irony in that the people on my feed eh share that stuff don’t give a shit about non-white human beings.
