Ok, so totally posting here for traffic!
It’s my gin loving Mum’s birthday and I want to make us her a pre dinner cocktail. Had a quick google but nothing particularly stands out. Ideally I’d like to be able to get the ingredients from the supermarket. TIA

Gin. Fevertree tonic. Ice. Lime (rub rim of glass, squeeze a bit into glass and garnish)

Grin sorry

I adore gin but hate anything they messes with the flavour.

Gin fizz maybe though?

I recently had an " aviation " cocktail - gin, creme de violette liquer, lemon juice, with a fresh violet floating on top..stunningly delicious...or I once had a " caramel sutra " - cask aged gin, condensed milk and salted caramel syrup..that was amazing too.

" Bees knees " is good too..fresh orange and lemon juice, honey and gin. Visitors loved them one New Year.

Pink gin and prosecco, add a little lemonade and lots of fresh berries. Remember it is alcoholic, it doesn’t taste it (experience speaking here).

I has sloe gin and bitter lemon the other night. Was gorgeous but didn't taste particularly alcholic.

Was pissed as a fart after 3.

It depends in whether or not she enjoys sweet drinks. If she dies, I would agree Bramble or French 75. If not, my fave is a dry Martini (gin) with an olive or two.

Applejack: decent cider mixed with cloudy lemonade, good slug of gin. Possibly an acquired taste ...

I like a Tom Collins but if you have rhubarb gin, there's one I picked up at the Gin Festival:

Shot of rhubarb gin
1/2 shot advocaat
Squeeze of fresh lime
Apple juice

Shake together and strain over ice - tastes like rhubarb and custard sweets.
