I'm mortified! So I pay my car tax monthly with my car insurance, I just checked my bank account and can't believe the last time tax came out was 03/01/2017. I've not had any letters, what should I do? Other than not drive off course 🙄

Go online and tax it now! You will get fined, or not, that's out if your hands.

Just tax it with immediate effect. Go online and do it now!

You can double check on the .gov website with your registration number to make sure it definitely hasn't been paid

Do it now obvs! Not sure whether it will backdate though,

It's odd that you have not had any warning letters/reminders

If it's monthly it shouldn't stop though, if by direct debit direct to dvla. Mines just hit the year mark so they've emailed to say it's going to carry on for another year with a list of when payments will come out - and that it will carry on until I tell them otherwise.

However when I used to pay 6 monthly/yearly I moved house and forgot to update the log book 😳, received a letter telling me it was overdue by 5 months so had to back pay obviously, no fines though luckily!

This happened to me but only for 2 months...basically I taxed it immediately when I realised and phoned them the next day. I was able to back pay the tax I owed over the phone, no big deal!!

Happened to me too. I was 2 weeks overdue. I phoned the next morning as i taxed online at midnight. All was ok and they said it does happen alot. Wish we still had paper disks. Im over cautious now and check regularly despite writing it down. Thanks for reminder too op.

This is the DVLA's crap system, they are supposed to renew automatically and it tells you not to renew it yourself. This happened to a friend - have you had the car for about a year? Check you have the V5, as the DVLA claimed an issue with that was why they had stopped taxing it.
