AIBU?

To confuse my slipper boots with our cat?

To put in context, I emerged from the shower tonight a bit bleary eyed and said a cheerful hello to my slipper boots (ugh horrible term but I don't know what else to call them) because I mistook them for the cat, who sits in a similar static staring stance for no reason in random places.

Is it just me - anyone else do things like this?

At least you didn’t try to stick your foot in the cat!

Reminds me of the advert for soecsavers in the vets!

Yes! Exactly like the Specsavers ad. I do wear glasses btw - but not in the shower! They'd get steamed up

No that's absolutely fine. I once tried to pick up the cat thinking she was a black skirt, she was quite indignant

I once went to stroke my cat, it was absent mindedly as I was just passing, She didn't move at all and felt quite cold, as she would if she was actually my cropped furry jacket.
The cat, Jemima was happily snoozing on my bed.

I quite often sit on my cat as she blends in with the sofa Blush

I confused my (large, black) cat with a large black handbag once. My DD still laughs at me for it.

My gran used to have a furry hat that looked EXACTLY like out tortoiseshell cat all curled up! Does your cat usually hang out in the bathroom?

I think we need a photo of the slipper boots and your cat to make a fully informed judgement.

If both are black you may have a point, but if your boots are red and your cat black & white not so much!

This is why I don't own anything white and fluffy. Except a chihuahua.

A few months ago I came home in the dark and said hello to the cat, went to pet him. It was one of the dc’s pe bags- the ring things were not his eyes

I do this all the time - see things out the corner of my eye and think it's the cat, and when I look it's not! Cats like to chill in random places.

I thought you were going to say you’d tried to put your foot in the cat so it could have been worse...

These are all making me laugh! The indignant cats being mistaken for handbags and pe bags and coats!
Yesitsme - I wish - I can't prove anything with a photo of my old brown M&S (fugly Ugg type slippers) with a photo of our beautiful lady who is black with white paws n bib. No similarity really it must just be me!

I actually have cat slipper boots!

One of our cats is exactly the same colour as our sofa and I’m always sitting on her. She gets very cross about it.

She is also exactly the same colour as a fake fur coat that DD used to have. I regularly went to pick her up thinking that DD had just chucked her coat on the floor again

My cat used to mistake my slipper boots for another cat. In the biblical sense.

I always mistake things for my cats!! One of my cats is black and if I see something black out the corner of my eye, like a black bag, I'll think it's my cat for a split secondGrin

Both my cats are black. I wear glasses, but when I get up to go for a wee in the night, I don't bother putting them on. Anyway, I often mistake the a pile of clothing, a tea towel or even the toaster for our cats, go to stroke them and wonder why a) it's cold or b) metallic!

I always think the towel is my black cat.

I have to wear glasses easy to wear in the shower, just run under the water briefly when they start of fog up and then they don’t any more the rest of the shower.
