Before I found this site, I did all the cooking and cleaning during the week and at the weekends, DH has a stressful job so I’d let him do essentially nothing round the house.
I’d get in from a night shift and make dinner in the slow cooker for that night, resurrect the banked fire to warm the house up, get a few hours sleep, get up and then tidy up etc etc.
This weekend we’ve had a blazing row because I’m doing agency work so it might be hard for us to get a mortgage, apparently that was my fault for taking a permanent job a few months ago but unfortunately have just been made redundant so had to go back to agency Work.
I left him upstairs to do work whilst banging around because he’s pissed off but I’m not standing for it anymore! I’ve made myself a brew and a cheeky poptart, I’m not cleaning and I’m not apologising for getting myself a job three days after being made redundant. He’s just come downstairs and pointedly emptied the dishwasher and refilled it, and put some washing on. Then he told me he’d put some washing on. Well done... you live here too!
Thank you Mumsnet for giving me the strength to grow a backbone and not constantly pander to him.
