MIL is a lovely women really, but positively enjoys being frugal and detests any excess in all its forms.

She's baked us a lovely cake, but is determined for it to last for as long as possible. She is the master slice cutter and won't let anyone else near it.

AIBU to be a bit disappointed with the size of this slice?

(Everyone disappeared into the other room, so I was able to take this sneaky photo with handy scale provided by new pound coin!)

Yanbu. Should be at least double. ;)

AnyFucker · 22/10/2017 10:41

I'd have asked for more

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 22/10/2017 10:41

Bloody hell, yes that's taking frugal a bit far. Can she also peel a satsuma in her pocket?😀

wobblywonderwoman · 22/10/2017 10:42

This is hilarious. Yes, it is skimpy alright.

Namechangetempissue · 22/10/2017 10:42

I could inhale that

travailtotravel · 22/10/2017 10:42

That's probably an official portion or something. In no way is it a proper cake eating humans portion.

ArseHair · 22/10/2017 10:43

I think that's illegal...

Lethaldrizzle · 22/10/2017 10:43

It's fine!

HateHomework · 22/10/2017 10:44

Was it a cake or a muffin? Confused

Santawontbelong · 22/10/2017 10:45

From today refer to her as Cakezilla. .

TyneTeas · 22/10/2017 10:45

Where's the cake?

All I can see us the coin and its shadow behindGrin

PantPlot · 22/10/2017 10:45

A bit.

But hey, better than no cake right?

HapsburgUrchin · 22/10/2017 10:45

Oh and I forgot to add, this was what I got when I asked for a "medium" slice! Shock

My MIL is the same! Frugal but also has some weird notion that ladies get tiny portions and men get huge ones!

crumpet · 22/10/2017 10:47

That’s a standard slice. But it does mean that going back for seconds is fine.

Everyone is just used to the supersized slices sold nowadays.

LastOneDancing · 22/10/2017 10:47

That's the little bit you cut to eat while you're in tge process of cutting the official portions to go on plates.

She's got confused surely.

MorrisZapp · 22/10/2017 10:47

Well I think cake has been vanity sized for too long. Frankly I'm a negative quantity myself and I couldn't eat that in one sitting, it's just too carb heavy.

BikeRunSki · 22/10/2017 10:47

It’s small, but it’s also what my MiL would cut. My MiL is not stingy, or short of money, but grew up with rationing, and to her, that is normal for a slice of cake. Given that so many people are overweight in this country, I suspect she may be on to something.

Joinourclub · 22/10/2017 10:49

It is a bit small if that's the only cake you're having today. But tbh my MIL always brings a cake over and we have portions that size because we have one when they arrive, one after lunch and one before they leave.

That's not worth getting the cake forks out for! Cake Cake Cake

DO3271 · 22/10/2017 10:49

That looks like the bite you take to sample the cake. Not a proper slice!

KarateKitten · 22/10/2017 10:50

It seems like the right size to me. Like it's a correct portion.

YANU to want 2-4 portions like most people these days. That's just what is now expected with cake eating.

I'd sometimes go for a big, unhealthy wadge of cake. Other times I just want a proper size piece as part of my day.
