Just watching X factor judges houses- please don't judge me!!
Anyhow a group of contestants were led to believe they were going to dubilin but were given a last minute reprieve and went San Francisco !
How insulting is that??
Dublin is every bit as good imo

Ireland is right next door to uk and is not wildly different to some parts of the uk. The further you travel, the more exciting it is, the more different it is, especially for the young contestants on the show. Of course San Francisco is more exciting! It's not an insult to Ireland and I love Ireland

ohmywhatamisaying · 21/10/2017 22:14

„Every bit as good“

Grin Aye

Liadain · 21/10/2017 22:17

Ah stop. I live in Dublin. I think the majority of Dubs wouldn't give a shite about this!

I'd be bored to death in Liverpool but I'd love to go to Bali. It's just the way it is.

KindergartenKop · 21/10/2017 22:18

Dublin is a tad chillier than SF.

Better beer though.

WorraLiberty · 21/10/2017 22:20

My family are Irish and I love Ireland.

However, I can't think of a single one of us who wouldn't prefer a trip to San Francisco! Grin

theymademejoin · 21/10/2017 22:20

Seriously? Long haul beats short haul any day!

youwouldthink · 21/10/2017 22:20

If you look Aer Lingus are one of the main prize sponsers this year and thats why they put that trip in. They have just opened the route here and are promoting it. I certainly don't feel insulted

wobblywonderwoman · 21/10/2017 22:29

Of course San Fran is better than Dublin. I say that as a proud Irish person. But come on .....

Owl1011 · 21/10/2017 22:34

No judgment here OP, I watched some of the X factor last week for the first time in years! Grin can't say i enjoyed it too much though. Dublin is my all time favourite place in the world to visit...but that being said I've always wanted to visit San Francisco. Don't necessarily think it's an insult to Ireland Hmm

HolyShmoly · 21/10/2017 22:37

If someone booked me a flight home to Ireland I'd be delighted. If I got to the airport and told me 'surprised, you're going to San Fran' I'd be beside myself with excitement.

There's plenty of ways to be insulted, this isn't one of them.

AgathaOHara · 21/10/2017 22:40

So would you be outraged if they were told they were going to Scunthorpe & then surprised with San Francisco?

Unlikely. So why Dublin?

Some people really are determined to spend their lives being offended on someone else’s behalf.

AfterSchoolWorry · 21/10/2017 22:43

I've never been to San Francisco but I live in Dublin. I seriously doubt Dublin is anywhere near as good as San Francisco!

Come on! Get real!

Nancy91 · 21/10/2017 22:44

I'm Irish and I couldn't agree with the contestants any more, the weather in Ireland is normally shit and it's not that different from England so I'd be gutted too!

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning · 21/10/2017 22:48

YABU. It wasn’t an insult. The whole point is that they go somewhere long haul and usually warm.

SparklyLeprechaun · 21/10/2017 22:48

I could jump on a plane in the morning and have a day out in Dublin if I wanted to. It's pretty much next door. San Francisco, not quite.

Glumglowworm · 21/10/2017 23:01

I live Ireland and have family there

Long haul is much more exciting than short haul

Liverpool to Dublin is a shorter journey than the train from Liverpool to London

Jigsisaw · 21/10/2017 23:06

Well im irish and ive lost count of the number of times ive been to the uk so obviously id rather go to san francisco!

Nocabbageinmyeye · 21/10/2017 23:07

Irish here too and I totally see why they would prefer San Francisco, I am sure if it was an American show they would rather Dublin v San Fransisco, it's what's further afield and different BUT they were very fucking sneery about it and it was said a few times so I see what you are saying op, I can't get worked up about it mind but I did notice it.

CocoPuffsinGodMode · 21/10/2017 23:08

I’m a Dub. San Francisco is better Wink

MargaretTwatyer · 21/10/2017 23:14

I think it was going to be Dublin. But when they realised that by 'SF judges house' Louis meant Gerry Adams was turning up to cojudge they pretended there was a big misunderstanding and they thought he meant San Francisco.

Shame. Apparently Gerry loves a nice version of 'Boom, shake, shake, shake the room'.

deadringer · 21/10/2017 23:22

Yabu

llangennith · 21/10/2017 23:22

Hmmm. Dublin or San Francisco? I know which I'd prefer!

Are you always looking to be offended at nothing?

Seriously. Finding that insulting is ridiculous

SilverySurfer · 22/10/2017 00:04

Oh the poor things, they must have been devastated to go to San Francisco instead of Dublin - not Hmm

It's absurd to suggest that it is in any way an insult.

BriechonCheese · 22/10/2017 00:07

Ah come on, I'm Irish (not a Dub) and whilst Dublin is nice - 50 mins on a Ryanair tin can isn't nearly as glam as high tailing it to San Francisco!
