AIBU?

To be tearfully devastated at missing Cbeebies birthday announcement?

So I spent days making a beautiful card for my daughter Penny's 1st birthday. I put in so much effort, and then bought the massive envelope, paid the expensive postage cost, and set up all the various time slots to record the birthday announcements on the day (Friday 20th Oct).
I come home that evening and excitedly go through the recordings to find that my TiVo box inexplicably didn't record the lunchtime slot. It did the morning and evening slot, but the lunchtime recordings are just grey screens of Doom.
I put it to the back of my mind, believing that the card probably wasn't read out then anyway, only to be messaged THE NEXT DAY by my friend saying "ooh, I saw penny's card on TV".
I'm devastated. I've tried tweeting, facebooking and emailing Cbeebies and anyone affiliated with them, but they make it clear that they don't send out recordings.
I'm So Upset! I feel irrationally angry with BBC for not putting them on iPlayer. I'm angry at TiVo box for buggering up the recordings. I'm even angry at my friend for waiting a whole day to tell me it was shown.
Its just a card. My daughter wouldn't even understand, she's only one. But I was so proud and so excited. AIBU??! XX

Can't you see the birthday card's on iPlayer?

JigglyTuff · 21/10/2017 21:13

I can understand that's disappointing but your daughter really won't care. I've never understood why they don't put them on iplayer though - is there a reason?

Longdistance · 21/10/2017 21:15

Some people record them and put them on YouTube.

WallyWantsWine · 21/10/2017 21:17

YABU. If I carried on typing I'd be incredibly rude so .. just YABU

waterrat · 21/10/2017 21:19

Your daughter is 1!!! I honestly can't think why you are getting worked up.

She is a baby and doesnt care.

She isnt old enough to watch tv or knoq anything about it !

Take a deep breath and forget all about it.

Ditsy1980 · 21/10/2017 21:20

My friend did this for her DD's 3rd birthday in September and they emailed her the link.

RubbishMum82 · 21/10/2017 21:21

I'd be absolutely gutted too. All that effort and it would have been so nice to show her when she got older. Really hope you manage to track it down x

Wellandtrulyoutnumbered · 21/10/2017 21:22

I'd be gutted too!

spungold1475 · 21/10/2017 21:23

Fair enough. I've been told. I guess I was just so excited to commemorate her 1st birthday with something special that I had put lots of effort into that I could show her in future.
Oh well.

You need to find someone who recorded the subsequent programme on sky+ or whatever- they might have the birthdays snippet before.

ItsNeverEndingIsIt · 21/10/2017 21:24

I understand why you are upset; doesn't matter how old your child is!
Do you have catch up on your box? If you download the episode before and after the birthday segment they may have been recorded onto the end / beginning of it .... I don't think CBeebies birthday is on Iplayer x

Redglitter · 21/10/2017 21:25

I can understand you being upset but devastated seems a big over reaction
Even if you had recorded it your daughter would have been oblivious. I've never really understood doing these things when children are too young to understand it. I can totally see it being a huge thing for an older child seeing themself mentioned on tv. So yes YABU

ShoutyMcShoutFace · 21/10/2017 21:25

and YANBU. Ok your baby won’t know but hey its something you put s lot of effort into and were looking forward to the result so have every right to be upset.

Oh I saw it! (I remember thinking the name Penny was lovely and unusual for a little one!) and we have it recorded too. Will pm you and I could see if I can find it for you.

AuntyElle · 21/10/2017 21:28

A lovely poster called designatedSurvivor might be able to help you. See www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3057074-cbeebies-birthday-card-11-October

spungold1475 · 21/10/2017 21:28

Put a public post on Facebook. Tag cbeebies. Ask folks to please share.

I was in hospital for my son’s one today and a kind friend videoed it on her phone and whatsapped it to me.

I’d have been gutted too.

Any chance any grandparents or aunts or friends may have recorded it?

My parents were late to my son’s 2nd birthday party because they were scouring their recordy box for a sighting of his card.

I hope you manage to get a copy.

Fruitcorner123 · 21/10/2017 21:29

If it doesnt turn up with the pp i would email them. I thought I had missed my DDs last year but turned out she was on a later showing. I started googling it and apparently they will email it to you if you request it.

RadioGaGoo · 21/10/2017 21:31

What on earth is there to be incredibly rude about? Hmm

Hope that User has the solution for you OP

user1471495191 · 21/10/2017 21:34

I'm pretty sure...now panicking in case it was another Penny Blush but I guess it is quite an unusual name?! Will have a check and see if I can find it. Might not be until Monday but will check as soon as I can. I you want to pm me the names of who it was from or the picture then I will look. I remember the name was in large capitals in like a rainbow shape at the top I think?! Does that sound right? (Didn't realise I paid so much attention to birthday club cards Confused)

WallyWantsWine · 21/10/2017 21:37

Well to be frank, 6 years ago here what I would have said would be 'sensible'

Everyone on MN lately is so special snowflake I'd better not speak the truth, lest be flamed for 'reality'

spungold1475 · 21/10/2017 21:38

Yes, that sounds exactly like it. It was a purple card with the Clangers, and penny's name in a sparkly arch over the top.
I'm very impressed with your memory!! Xxx

Aw no! I’d be gutted too x

Needingsomeadvice · 21/10/2017 21:40

I would be upset too. Yes, I get that it isn't the end of the world, but they don't always show them and to miss it after all that making etc is very annoying! I bet someone somewhere has it recorded! I filmed my DDs on my phone and was so glad I had - you can even hear her little 1-year old voice babbling away in the background. She likes to look at it occasionally and was amazed that Alex from CBeebies was holding her card!
Sorry for you that people are being so crabby and mean! Hmm

Anon8604 · 21/10/2017 21:41

Can't help at all, but YANBU to be upset. You'd obviously put lots of effort into something for your DD and it's totally natural to be upset when technology messes up something that was important to you.
