Every bloody time I open Fakebook I see an advert for this product. Are people that stupid that they can be duped into thinking a tanning product can make them thinner? Of course they aren't! In fact it actively puts me off the product. AIBU to think the women flogging this shit should be ashamed of themselves? Or have I got it all wrong?!

I'm sure it's called Skinny Tan because it has less ingredients in it than other fake tanners.

Do you work for them in the PR department? Good try Wink

And having a tan is like wearing black, it can give the illusion of looking thinner (because you reflect less light).

I think they've just got into a lot of trouble with the ASA for false claims...

It’s a really good fake tan, nothing to do with actually making you skinny. YABU.

When they were on Dragons Den a few years ago, they said that they had not been able to use a an anti cellulite product with fake tan - one cancelled the other out due to ingredients clashing. So Skinny Tan was meant to be a fake tan that also had an anti cellulite ingredient.

Not saying it works or it's still like that though.

It's not meant to make you skinny and doesn't say that, it just helps smooth cellulite as well as tanning (and a tan makes you slimmer)

A tan makes you slimmer? I don't think so. Does it make you look slimmer? Not really. And no I don't work for them; I genuinely think their product has a stupid name. And everyone knows cellulite cream has no effect, surely?

You can tweak advert preferences, go and check out what google knows about you (or FB) that thinks you'd be interested in the product. It's generally related to other things you've been browsing.

Hi - its Louise one of the founders of Skinny Tan here. I am sorry you feel bombarded by our ads - how annoying! It shouldn't happen like that - there is an option on FB to opt out of receiving them as explained in the comments here too which is good if we are appearing too often for you. I am a mum first and an entrepreneur second and have worked hard to balance the two and bring Skinny Tan- a relatively small brand to market against big competitors like PZ cussons. It wasn't a money-making decision but a passionate necessity that skinny tan was born. As a new mum with my post baby body I was looking for quick fixes to improve body confidence. My best friend was having great results with a guarana based cellulite cream and I would always felt that self tanning had a visible cosmetic effect on reducing the appearance of cellulite- which makes sense as a darker colour absorbs less light and creates less shadow. Neither the guarana nor the tanning was a new solution. All we did was put the 2 together. At the same time we decided to create our dream tan which was easy to apply without streaking was more natural with a certified natural form of the dha tanning active and the addition of some organic oils and the guarana. We were also determined to have a tanner that we felt didn't smell awful. We didn't have money to throw at big ad execs to sit around thinking of ways to 'flog' our tanner - our success has come from real people just like us who loved the products and felt that our dream tanner was their dream tanner too. We will continue to back our claims and ensure clarity around any wording so that we give our customers an honest and positive experience as poss. Sorry to have rambled on a bit just wanted to explain. Thankyou.

Wow - I never expected that! Thanks Louise; it's rare to get such insight. Although I'm not entirely sure about the "passionate necessity not making money" aspect Grin

Respect to the skinny tan founder for coming on and explaining!

But I will never deviate from St Tropez and would highly recommend that if you want to try one OP
