1st time buyers.

DH likes this one www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-48999540.html

I think it has potential but would need a bit of redecorating and a new bathroom etc!

I like this one www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-65445908.html

Bit more finished but smaller, we can’t decide!

Your DH;s is more of a family home, yours is more a couples. Do you have/want children?

Coastalcommand · 20/10/2017 23:50

I'd get the first one and use the money you'd save on buying the other one to do it up.
The more space the better, decor you can fix.

GetOutOfMYGarden · 20/10/2017 23:50

I prefer the second, honestly! The first comes across as a bit pokey (sorry if the seller is on MN!) especially compared to that lovely view from the garden.

Floralnomad · 20/10/2017 23:50

Unless the second one is in a more desirable area for you I'd pick the first one .

ukelelebanana · 20/10/2017 23:52

Sorry but I wouldn't pick either. Number one needs completely gutting and number 2 is tiny.

PhDPepper · 20/10/2017 23:54

Sorry I have another thread going as it was a bit quiet.

I like both, we don’t have kids at the moment but they’re on the cards in the next few years. I think in that respect the first one might be better. :)

First one, no question (although I'm very jealous of the prices of either one, we're currently renting in SE where 2 bed terrace goes for £220k+, can't see us ever being able to buy Confused)

keepcalmandfuckon · 21/10/2017 00:12

Much prefer the first. The second one looks dark and squished.

Misspollyhadadollie · 21/10/2017 00:14

First

Doggymum88 · 21/10/2017 00:16

I prefer number 1. Go with more room. As others have said you can change the interior over time to something more your taste :)

Thesmallthings · 21/10/2017 00:22

Number one imo is alot nicer

DillyDally15 · 21/10/2017 00:22

Definitely second if you haven't got the time to do up. Looks lovely. Otherwise like others said probably the 2nd. I actually regret buying a house that didn't need anything doing to it. It means I can't waste money on decor and furnishings (much to the relief of DH)! I'm gobsmacked at how cheap they are. Houses like those in my village would be 250k and upwards!

differentnameforthis · 21/10/2017 00:24

I like the first! I would definitely go for that rather then #2. I lived in a quaint home similar to #2 and it is surprising how quick you outgrow it when a baby comes along, or how squished you feel with guests.

Weedsnseeds1 · 21/10/2017 00:26

I prefer the first one. Wish I could buy a house like that here, would cost three times the price!

StripeyDeckchair · 21/10/2017 00:27

The first one, however perfect a house is you'll still want to change things to make it your own. Get the space & decorate it.

steppemum · 21/10/2017 00:29

1 is a lot bigger. The second bedroom in 2 is small and squashed, and 1 has a third bedroom.

2 has no dining area in kitchen or living room, 1 does.

1 the lounge looks a lot bigger

I don't think 1 needa gutting, you don't HAVE to replace the bathroom etc. most of it is paper and paint to fix.

I really dislike the furniture etc in no1, which I think makes it hard to look past in photos to see what you could make of it.

the only thing about 2 is the living room is snug with woodburner.

Shiftymake · 21/10/2017 00:29

Number one, it is harder to add space then pick up some paint or get a new bathroom fitted.

Beahun · 21/10/2017 00:32

Prefer first one. It has 3 bedrooms, kitchen you can sit in and it's cheaper. Also, lovely garden. I'm sure once you done it up nicely you can make some money on it. Good luck!

Time40 · 21/10/2017 00:37

I'd go for space every time, so the first.

VinIsGroot · 21/10/2017 00:56

No1 ..... Space ....we've lived in a cosy cottage.
It just needs the inbuilt wardrobe removing and decorating. Bathroom is okay and livable !

notangelinajolie · 21/10/2017 01:04

First one. FTB cheaper, bigger and you can make it your own. I say this, not knowing the area but something to bear in mind - make sure you buy a property that you will be able to sell easily. Look at how long each has been on the market.

MyfatheristheKing · 21/10/2017 01:06

First one for sure :)

1st without a doubt.

ilovesooty · 21/10/2017 01:14

The first one, definitely.

Seeingadistance · 21/10/2017 01:36

The first one - bigger, an extra bedroom, cheaper and most of the work required is cosmetic - paint and wallpaper. It's amazing what a difference it makes when you have your own furniture, rugs, curtains and other stuff in.
