One day every month, and I'm so grateful it only happens for a day, I get mildly anxious, a bloated abdomen, a slight headache, and an achy lower back. I am also INSANELY hungry, all day, seemingly no matter how much I eat. I always know when it's "my day" because I wake up literally sick with hunger, and aside from that day, I never wake up feeling hungry.

Oh yes I forgot the ravenous feeling! My symptoms usually last a whole week but come and go a bit

I don't get any. I think it may be because I'm on the combined pill. So I have a withdrawal bleed during my pill free week, instead of a proper period.
When I was younger (before I went on the pill), I used to get stomach pains when I was due on, and I'd feel a bit tired.

To add, every 3 months or so, my boobs are sore, too, but not every month for whatever reason.

The week before I get almost suicidal. I hate it. I just become so low and struggle to cope. The rest of the month I'm fine

I didn't really suffer much when I was on the pill either. Since coming off it I feel like crap

Like Henry said, I’m also almost suicidal the week before. I cry my eyes out and feel like I’ll feel that way forever. I get awful anxiety and as soon as I get my period I’m a different person. It can be debilitating and makes me totally irrational.

Constipated (until the diarrhoea when the actual period starts)
Moodiness
Acne on chin and neck
Abdominal heaviness
Sometimes nausea

I'm currently pregnant and having a pretty bad time and it's a piece of piss compared with periods. I'm eagerly awaiting menopause.

Report
Teddy7878 · 19/10/2017 19:09

I also get the diarrhea when my period actually comes.
Can't wait for menopause either, although definitely not looking forward to the lead up to it. My mum and insane periods a year before it happened. Flooding through thick pads and terrible migraines and hot flushes/nausea

I've always suffered terribly with PMT and its got worse as I've got older (now 40). I don't get bad pain, just mild cramping, but I suffer from:

Crippling anxiety (this is by far the worse symptom and is especially hard to deal with at work).
Exhaustion.
Very bad bloating (I can put on half a stone easily in the week before my period is due and go up a dress size, and then magically lose it a few days after my period starts).
Nausea and retching.

Milder symptoms are:
Usually a spot or two around my mouth or chin.
Weird food cravings and aversions.
Sore, heavy breasts.
Interrupted sleep / insomnia.
Restless legs and itchy skin.
Feeling very hot and flushing, especially at night.

I used to get serious depression associated with my cycle, but a low dose of Fluoxetine has sorted that out...

Angry.
Weepy and angry at the same time.
Sore breasts.
Bloating.
Sugar craving.
Itchy.
Insomnia.
Hot at night (but that might just be peri-menopause).

Very low mood. I suppose it probably is a mild case of premenstrual dysphoric disorder but I've never been to the doctor about it. In the week before my period there will be a day or a couple of days where I feel down, hopeless and just in despair for no reason. Tears or bouts of crying are not unusual. I would have never realised what what causing it until my DH noticed a pattern.

Also exhaustion, bloating, sore breasts, acne, etc.

Day 25 (28 day cycle) is always my worst and I get really snappy and insecure with my OH. He noticed a pattern too and said it's always 3-4 days before my period. I'm normally very placid for the rest of the month

I've had varying symptoms. Mostly just getting more angry/hormonal, although i do remember getting diarrhoea once two days before it started, although it's never happened since.
When I actually get it, it's usually the 1st or 3rd days that are the worst. Stomach pains obviously but also my thighs often hurt like fuck. It's horrible.
Luckily I've only thrown up maybe once in association with my period.

Since turning 40 I get the red mist, I turn into an ogre. On the other hand the physical symptoms have lessened

A few days before I get extremely tired, clumsy, giant pimple on chin, sore breasts and sometime dizziness and headaches.

A day before I get ravenous. I also feel really anxious, self conscious and paranoid. I veer between murdeous rage and sobbing over the slightest thing - I think a particularly low point was when I cried over s discarded empty crisp packet as it had lost all its little crisps - I shit you not!

When my period starts I get really bad back ache which radiates down my thighs. I'm still ragey/sobby and paranoid. I also get cramps so bad I can't sleep and sometimes I can't function as I feel like I'm going to pass out.

More recently I've had flooding which is fun addition.

Sometimes I don't get them as bad but those are symptoms I typically get.

I can't wait for the menopause!
