AIBU?

Very petty disagreement. Who do you side with?

Person A leaves a pile of paperwork by the shredder for a couple of days.
Person B gets fed up of waiting for it to shred itself and does the job, jamming the shredder in the process.
B informs A they have done the dirty work, now A can unjam the shredder as B sure isn't going to.
A says no, you broke it, you fix it.

Who is more wrong/right? A for not finishing the job in the first place or B for leaving the machine out of order?

Which would annoy you more?

Who ever jammed the shredder

I'd say B but that's only because my shredder is a fucker to fix.

A should obviously have done their shredding though

I'd be more annoyed by B for leaving the shredder inoperative, especially since the pile of paperwork left by A wasn't preventing B from using the shredder.

Sanctimonious prick.

I would be annoyed that person A had just dumped the shredding and not just shredded it.

How difficult is it to unjam the shredder?

B definitely.

We have a bastard of a shredder. Jams if you look at it funny. We rinse it with vodka and it then works a treat.

B needs to get cracking at sorting out the shredder.

Yes on balance A needs to stop being lazy, leaving piles of shredding by the shredder and B needs to stop being lazy and sort the shredder out.

As my mother would say-'six of one and half a dozen of the other'.

You are obviously Person B, just say so and we'll happily tell you whether we think you were right or wrong. This Person A and Person B bullshit sounds like the set up for a primary school maths question.

B. If you broke it, you fix it!

B too, I'm afraid.

A was annoying, but B had options - speak to A, put paper back on A's desk if it was in the way, etc.

Instead B got huffy, jammed the shredder & then made it A's problem.

A started it, leaving her crap everywhere for someone else to sort out. Too right A should unjam the shredder and apologise for being a carelessly lazy git in the first place.

A, is my husband I'm sure. He should sort it out. Forever half doing jobs and expecting me to finish them. If he'd done it in the first place the thing wouldn't have jammed.

Totally and utterly should be A.

Going against the grain here I know!

B. For poking their nose in where it wasn't wanted and fucking up the shredder in the process.

Report
RatOnnaStick · 17/10/2017 21:00

I will admit to being person A and I will fully admit to my laziness in not coming back to finish the job but I don't see why B should get away with leaving the machine stuck for the next person to sort.
