AIBU?

AIBU to be absolutely furious at the bloke on Abortion on Trial (currently on BBC2)

He the only bloke in the debate. He was pro-choice until his partner had one against his will, so now he wants it recriminalised.

Dick.

I think they are trying to include a range of viewpoints. Personally I don’t think any man has the right to tell women what they can or cant do with their own bodies though

Well yes, he was hypocritical to say he was pro choice. If his own child had a right to life, then so does every other child.

I do appreciate the fact that they are trying to present different viewpoints. It’s just his seems to be ‘my ex fucked me over so you should all pay’.

But at the same time he's lost his baby. You may not agree with him but you should have a little bit of sympathy. His POV is also interesting in that it provides an example of the effect of abortion of people concerned other than pregnant women. He wants to put the interests of fathers who want to keep their babies above the interests of women who don't. Obviously it is not the same as prioritising the interests of pregnant women but it is not worlds apart. It shows that the current abortion laws (as they are practiced) do not grant any rights to fathers which is not an unimportant issue.

Yes, it is very much saying women shouldn’t have the right to decide because it removes the man’s right to have a say and of course as a man his needs are far higher priority 🙄

Oh and the new gem ‘if a woman has three abortions she should be physcologically assessed.’

I don't see how, in reality, a mans right can be catered for in the abortion argument purely because it's impossible to ignore the physical impact of pregnancy and birth.

I sympathise with men who grieve for the loss of a wanted baby but it's really not a point that can be taken into consideration in the argument as far as I'm concerned.

He's an absolute bell end.

When he's got a womb he can have an opinion.

And if a woman is considering another abortion then mental health professionals should step in, the woman should be forced to have the child and then it should be adopted.

It might be important to the man who's not getting his own way but until men can give birth they can fuck right off with their forced birthing bollocks.

My DH quotes an American comedian who summed up the abortion debate as 'one dick, no vote'.

Works for me.

I haven't seen this, but I do feel sympathy towards a man whose partner is aborting a baby he wants to keep. That's got to be a really hard thing to bear.

Given his desire to become a father I do wonder how many he has adopted so far in order to relieve pressure on the already very squeezed social services system, which would be responsible for caring for those children he feels women should be forced to deliver if he and others like him had their way

He's a twat. And he's thick.

I feel sorry for what happened to him, though.

I don't think he should have been on the programme. The women with opposing opinions are listening to one another and he's just causing strife.

Bollocks! Well said

She won't be "aborting a baby", whitehorses, it'll be an embryo or possibly a foetus.

He would do well as a character in the handmaidens tale

DH and I can’t understand why any men are involved in this debate at all. Too many men have had and continue to have sway over what women do with their bodies. Very frustrating watching this as it still comes down to “all about the men” Hmm

What? A man derail a conversation and make it all about him? NEVER!
