To have a mainstream comedian joke about this just shows how normalised that culture actually is. That a grown man with a wife and - I think - daughter can hear about this and think "I know, I'll tell a joke about sexual assaults on women, that'll bring the house down" is fucking nuts. My DH's friend stayed over last night and made a 'joke' in front of both our DDs that women shouldn't be allowed to drive. I said, "nope". I said, "not even as banter". And DH said, "mate, in light of current events, no, no sexist jokes".

This kind of misogynist 'joking' enables this behaviour to continue. It's funny, not horrifying. It should be horrifying.
