AIBU?

Was I being unreasonable to comment on trolley?

A lady and I were in the same aisle or the supermarket and I made what I thought was a friendly comment about her trolley.

She got really angry and asked what the duck it had to do with me.

A supermarket trolley?

Or one of those cool granny ones? I've seen some really fancy ones lately.

HeartburnCentral · 15/10/2017 14:21

What exactly did you say to offend her so much? Grin

yorkshapudding · 15/10/2017 14:22

We can't decide if YWU unless you tell us what you actually said.

Gazelda · 15/10/2017 14:23

What did you say to her?

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 15/10/2017 14:23

Like those trolleys that people use to bring stuff home in, or what she was buying?

Fekko · 15/10/2017 14:24

Depends what you said.

I hate it when people comment on my shopping.

'ooh, are you having a party....'

No. No I'm not.

queenthequeen · 15/10/2017 14:25

I said something like oh you must like Dr Pepper as she had a lot of them)

Ywbu

AuntLydia · 15/10/2017 14:25

Yeah it depends what the comment was surely?! Did you make some kind of judgemental comment on the type of food she had in there?!

greatbigwho · 15/10/2017 14:26

What was the comment? I feel this needs more context …

AnonymousTomato · 15/10/2017 14:26

Why would you feel the need to comment on someone else’s trolley

Mycarsmellsoflavender · 15/10/2017 14:26

As in " oh you've got one that veers off to the left of its own accord too" or " I bet you're having a party with all that booze"? Without knowing what you said, how can we comment on whether YABU?

chickenowner · 15/10/2017 14:26

What business is it of yours?

greatbigwho · 15/10/2017 14:26

Yeah, that sounds quite judgy tbh

2cats2many · 15/10/2017 14:26

Maybe it's her guilty pleasure. No need for her to be so rude though.

Nousernameforme · 15/10/2017 14:27

Why would you say that?

queenthequeen · 15/10/2017 14:27

No none of my business I guess! I thought I was being friendly Blush

Gammeldragz · 15/10/2017 14:27

YWBU, never comment on the contents of someone's trolley!

SaucyJack · 15/10/2017 14:27

So misunderstood, indeed.

Mycarsmellsoflavender · 15/10/2017 14:28

X post. Yes, I think you came across as a bit nosy.

Maybe you just caught her on an off day? To be honest people peering at my shopping and commenting on it is annoying, but you would have got a vague "yes" and a polite smile from me.

Mycarsmellsoflavender · 15/10/2017 14:29

Although she didn't need to be rude. I would just have ignored your comment.

Gazelda · 15/10/2017 14:30

If I were here, I’d have thought you were being nosy too. But I wouldn’t have replied the way she did.
Do you mind if other people gawp at your trolley and judge the contents?
