I'm looking at you in particular Streep!

YANBU. And Woody Allen too.

Yanbu

Agree

Yes, they’re only criticising Weinstein now because of the weight of numbers doing so. I’d it was just a few unknown women, their mouths would still be clamped shut.
As you say, they’re still remarkably quiet on the likes of Polanski and Woody Allen.

Yanbu, agree completely.

Funny how everyone is crawling out of the woodwork after he has been sacked, barring the few brave women who spoke out before.

Bunch of fucking hypocrites the lot of them!

Tbh, I have no issue with women he harrassed in the past only coming out now. Famous or not, they are victims and we shouldn't police how and when they speak out. They are finding strength in numbers now and that's a good thing.

I agree with calling those who still work with Allen and Polanski being absolute hypocrites. The same goes for Casey Affleck's cheer crew.

Agree- both sexy offenders and both should be jailed. There's a lot of bandwagon jumping after Weinstein has been condemned as the poster mentions above and it's easy to join the chorus then.

It's simply bandwagon-jumping.

"just for a while 'cause they think it's in style".

LondonNicki sorry I shouldn't laugh as this is serious post but "sexy" offenders made me giggle

YANBU. The hypocrisy of Hollyweird is astounding.

It depends what you mean by supporting Polanski. I don't defend what he did but given the prosecutorial shenanigans around his case and the expressed desire of his victim to drop the matter I think he should be allowed to live out his last years in the USA without the case being revived, and I don't call that supporting him. Weinstein's position is entirely different.

Andrewofgg Are you for real? Roman Polanski sodomized a thirteen year old child!

Polanski has been accused of sexual assault by four woman. There is a current investigation into the rape of a 15 year old in 1972.

Roman Polanski raped a child after he drugged her - I couldn't give a flying fuck if he has to live where he doesn't want to for the rest of his life.
I feel the same OP - I guess some actors felt that their careers and art outweighed their revulsion at working with and taking direction from a man who raped a child.

NearLifeExperience · 12/10/2017 14:54

The support of Roman Polanski is utterly baffling and depressing. Actors line up to work with him. He drugged and raped a child, and is a fugitive from justice. Hideous.

I can't even watch a Polanski film any more, and don't like watching Jack Nicholson in anything as I believe the rape of the child happened at his house.

I just despair of these people who live in a different world to the rest of us jumping on bandwagons as someone mentioned. Tbf, Streep pissed me off during the US elections for some reason too. I swear a lot of Clinton supporters aren't really Democrats.

I'm hoping that the aftermath of the Weinstein revelations will result in the person/people who raped Corey Feldman and Corey Haim, amongst others, will be outed too. The Saville effect?

Well not to name any names but there’s lots of talk on Twitter of other directors who have sexually harassed and abused young actresses and actors...

Report
Terfing · 12/10/2017 15:10

They're all revolting. I hope more names come out so that I know who to boycott.

Ledehe · 12/10/2017 15:11

It was Jack Nicholson and Angelica Houston's house. I'm sure she knew he was there was a child. Horrific.

I'm actually surprised that Corey Haim's rapist hasn't been publicly named. He is from a huge acting family but has had a lot of scandal about him, or so what i've seen Corey Feldman allude to who it was.

Terry Crews and Rob Schinider have also publicly mentioned sexual assault by Hollywood men this week

Polanski yes. Allen there are some fairly good reasons to think he didn't do it.

MT - I'm not sure about Woody Allen either, although I feel fairly sure that Michael Jackson was dodgy as f*ck.

Allen there are some fairly good reasons to think he didn't do it.

And one very good reason to believe that he did - the testimony of Dylan Farrow.
