To wonder if this is legal

I bought a coffee at a station in my own cup this morning. It's usually 10% cheaper but today it was more expensive than the price on the board. I questioned it and they said 'we put our prices up recently and haven't updated the board yet'. I know this is a trivial thing (the difference was about 40p) but AIBU to wonder if it's legal to charge a different price to the one displayed?

I don’t know the legalities but I would have had them tip it in to one of their own cups and gone somewhere else because it’s a bit cheeky and underhand. Every shop could say the same thing couldn’t they really.

Not illegal. The displayed price is merely an invitation. there is no legality to sell at that price. Morally yes, legally no.

Easy read version.
