AIBU?

In thinking cheese and beans on toast...

... is completely different to cheese on toast with beans?

I say the two are completely different meals. DH says that I'm clearly wrong and it's the same meal prepared differently. He also thinks there's a right and wrong way.

Cheese on toast with beans = toast, then cheese (duh), with beans on top.

Beans on toast with cheese = toast, beans, THEN grated or thinly sliced cheese melted on top.

AIBU to think these are different meals?

(In case it's not obvious, this is a light-hearted thread and my attempt to distract myself while I wait to find out if I have an out-of-hours doctor's appointment for my sudden inability to breathe very effectively. Wink).

Totally different meals. You could have both in the same day

I've never had either. Blush

Its the same ingredient in a different order. It's not an entirely separate meal.
I side with dh.

In my house we have cheesy beans on toast, but now I come to think about it, it is far more like melted cheese on toast with beans on the top. My whole life has been a lie!

With your DH I'm afraid.... if you put cheese on the side then it would be different, but these sound the same albeit one (cheese first then beans) is an abbhoration..... However the only real crime against humanity is crisp sandwiches. These are not sandwiches! I don't care what DH says....

Yanbu, at all.
Your DH, like my DP is wronger than a wrong mans wrong bits.
They're 2 completely different meals, I will say though that I add grated cheese and melt in to the beans while heating them up, then add more grated on top.
I am chesty too, wheezy with a shitty cough. Hope you feel better soon.

They are two different meals.

One is cheese on toast with beans served with it.
The other is beans on toast topped with grated cheese.

cheese on toast has the cheese added then grilled briefly to melt it all, with beans on the side.

beans on toast is beans piled on top of toast with cheese grated over the top.

They are v. similar but not quite the same meal.

Sayyouwill, I like your thinking.

Peppapigearworm, I have decided I'm one of those posters who only wants people to agree with me, so I'm ignoring you now. Wink

Missing the point slightly, but has anyone tried cheese and bean toasters made in the toaster sandwich maker? These are the best! Smile

They're definitely 2 different things.

But, cheesy beans on toast for me is grating the cheese into cold beans then heating them up so they go all gooey.

Yes, I agree they are two totally different meals. My DH would agree with yours though and would also consider cheese and beans mixed together with a side plate of toast to be the same mealConfused

Put another slice of toast on top to sandwich it. Then, turn it around, or not, to suit your preference.

Different things!

Beans on toast with cheese on top (maybe even a fried egg too if I'm feeling really decadent!) is the best.

But when I have cheese on toast, I want the cheese really toasty and bubbly. Putting wet beans on top would spoil it for me.

I'm going to show him this thread, after I've finished eating my beans on toast with cheese (grated, in top) that he generously made for me.

On second thoughts, if I tell him he's wrong, he might never make either again for me. I'm not sure I've thought this through.

Completely different dishes. However I don't know who would have beans WITH cheese on toast. That's not right. And by cheese on toast, I mean melted grilled cheese on top of toasted bread NO bloody butter needed.

Beans on toast with cheese is an entirely different dish and can be buttered toast, then beans on top (or side), topped with grated cheese.

So cheese on toast (no beans). Or beans on toast with cheese. Nothing in between. Grin

Agree totally different meals

And cheese on toast, should be eaten on its own.
What kind of fucking madman would eat beans with it.
Jesus, fucking heathens
