AIBU?

AIBU to be curious as to why there are so many teachers on Mumsnet?

Is it because Mumsnet is particularly appealing to members of the teaching profession? Maybe, there are just a lot of people working as teachers and therefore they are likely to be well represented simply due to sheer numbers.

I enjoy reading the teachers' perspective as I currently have school aged children. It is always interesting to see things from another perspective.

I’m not sure there are many more Watchers than there are other profession tbh, it’s just that the subject matter on this site would lend itself to a teacher revealing themselves more iyswim.

Good question.

I think a lot of teachers are parents, and are naturally drawn to internet searches for resources and such like.

I used to post on the TES forums and I recognise a few names.

I think there just seems to be more, as there is more reasons to announce you are a teacher on here, as there are threads about schools/children.

It has never been relevant to say what my career is.

Teachers would also stand out as a lot of topics covered on here are relevant to their job.

I imagine there are vast numbers of accountants on here too but the opportunity to wade in with relevant insight into changes in financial reporting standards dont come about that often. dreams of starting a thread on GAAP conversion

You answered your own question Smile
I came here years ago before I had my own kids (now school aged) and found it fascinating to read things from a parents PoV.

I agree with this. None of the threads here tend to have any relation to my profession, which is why I've never felt the need to mention it.
