AIBU?

To think cannabis should be legal?

Just came back from a week in Amsterdam.

I very occasionally smoke weed. It was just so nice to be able to sit outside, drink coffee and smoke with no judgment.

I saw hardly any police the entire time I wasn't there. Never felt unsafe.

I agree! Be better quality and amount will be the same for everyone!

Agreed. Regulate and tax it. No reason whatsoever for it to be illegal when alcohol is legal.

I also agree. As long as people use it responsibly I think it causes a lot less harm than binge drinking!
It can also help so many people suffering from chronic pain every day

I would have no problem with it being made legal

Mind you I can't stand the smell, as it makes me heave.

This made me laugh though OP

No wonder you didn't see the police if you wasn't there Grin Torch

I think so, yes. I'm not about to go campaigning for it, but I really can't make a case for it to stay illegal while alcohol is legal. (Not about to campaign for prohibition either!)

I totally disagree.

I'm from a very poor area where cannabis sucks the life out of the young men who live here. My cousin spent 30 years being trapped it in. It causes depression and paranoia. I've seen first hand what it does to people that don't have the choices that other people do.

It has amazing healing properties but the majority of people that use it just want to get high. My best friends bloke has just lost his license for drug driving through it, he could have wiped out a hole family.

Grin I know, strange that I wouldn't see something in a place when I wasn't there.

It should definitely be legalised.

Cannabis DOES NOT cause paranoia or mental health problems. The people who have these issues had them before smoking.

Don’t and have never done drugs but I think they should all be legalised for the following reasons.

Safer - ensues only sold though Licenced premises and means people are getting a controlled version not any random shit

Taxes. - it’ll raise money’s in tax and duty

Instanty removes a whole load of criminality and give control to the government.

But alcohol causes all of these problems, and more, so why is one legal and the other not?

Same here (very deprived area) and I see alcohol sucking the life out of young men and women...whole families even. Not to mention the violent behavior it often causes.

People will always look for a high, whether it's weed, alcohol, stronger drugs or just life's natural highs.

Of course it should be.
Cannabis is likely to contribute to worsening mental health difficulties in a small minority of people. That’s not a reason to prohibit the majority from using it if they choose to. It’s a mild drug with short term effects and zero mortality rates.

I meant to say I would prefer people to abuse weed if they're going to abuse anything.

Alcohol is the worst to be honest. I spoke to a woman recently who has an alcoholic and a heroin addict in her family. She said the heroin addict is far easier to support than the alcoholic. Alcoholics are just chaos.

Yanbu. Legalise, regulate, tax. Use the tax take to treat those who are negatively affected by drug use. Promote real education about the risks. Regulate well so people know what they are getting. Take the profits out of the hands of gangsters. It's always been a no brainer to me.

Laughing here at 'being a druggie' Grin Grin

I'd hate to think what you call anyone who sits outside a bar, enjoying a few wines on holiday.

Oh wait, you'd probably call them 'normal'...

I’d legalise the lot addiction should be treated as a social problem not a criminal one.
I’d rather people who did take drugs had a safe supply then had to play Russian roulette with whatever shit their dealers sell them.
Yes lives are ruined by drugs but giving addicts a criminal record on top of everything else makes it even harder to get their life back on track.
