Taking DS to A&E

14 month old DS fell over at swimming, forehead first, has been sleepy ever since but not sure if swimming just wore him out?

Now in the car en route to hospital and he seems more awake and happier. AIBU to take him to A&E?
Don’t want to be seen as a crazy mum or waste anyone’s time!

I wouldn't if he's perfectly fine now. If he literally just fell over rather than feel from a height its' not like he can have done much damage. Does he even have a mark on him?

I wouldn't if he's rousable - being 'sleepy' is normal as long as he responds to something like foot tickling etc - keep an eye on him - go to A+E if he less rousable, vomits, fits etc

A lump is good. No lump means internal bleeding usually. (Not medically trained, just what I was told when ds3 had concussion)

I'd get him checked out. Chances are he's absolutely fine, but it's not worth the risk on the small possibility that he isn't.

I took DS the other day after he bumped his head, and he wasn't even sleepy. In fact he was perfectly fine, but the size of the lump on his head was shocking.

I was very apologetic to the doctor but he said it doesn't matter it's always best to take them in for a head injury.

I'm not saying you shouldn't, but I'm bemused at all the "take no chances after a head injury" posts. Toddlers bang their heads all the time, you couldn't possibly take them to hospital every time they get a bump. It's not a head injury in any real sense of the word.
And comparing it to someone who died in a skiing accident is just bizzarre.

If you have phoned 111 and they have told you to take your DS to A&E, I'm not sure why you are posting here tbh. They are the professionals - follow their advice.

It's not bizarre. There are levels of head injury. This is one given the child fell and has a lump. He's a baby. He needs to be checked. No one with any decency would begrudge a mum wanting her baby checked.
