AIBU?

To think my cleaner shouldn't eat all the biscuits

I've noticed that my cleaning lady is clearing me out of biscuits. She eats an entire biscuit tin whilst she's in my home. So 1-2 packets. She's never asked if it's ok or replaced anything. I've never offered them to her either.

Wow that's so cheeky! Do you leave them out on the table or something?
Can you just put them away or does she get them out of the cupboard?

She's taking them home I would think!

Home bake some marmite and onion cookies and leave them in the tin!

Definitely emptying them into her handbag to take home.

I wouldn't leave any there! That's really cheeky. And yes, I'd wonder whether she was taking them home.

That’s theft, fired on the spot. Also if she’s stealing the biscuits what else might she be doing?

The tin is just left on the kitchen worktop. For a while I just thought my family were being a bit greedy. I am tempted to put dog biscuits in there this week!

Are you sure it's the cleaner?

Are the wrappers in the bin?

I'd chop her hands off for that!

That's naughty. As a pp said I'd also be worried what else she's helping her self to.
You need a word with her. And hide the biccies!

You ABU. Only leaving out 1-2 packets? I would expect no less than 5 packets on a cleaning shift.

Would not be happy with that!! That amount is crazy are you sure she’s not taking some home with her or something?!? My cleaner doesn’t help herself to any food in the house at all. It’s not really on for them to help themself to any biscuits or foods - you wouldn’t just do that in any other job would you?! Obviously if you’re out when they come and have said in advance help yourself to tea and biscuits then ok... but if not then it’s quite rude

Ironically dp wants to keep her as he says we know her and can trust her.

Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge her a few biscuits but I just think it's very cheeky.

Seriously rude. If you can't trust her, you need to give notice.

Do you really need MN advice on this? Stop leaving them out on the worktop and put them away.

I think firing her without first asking her to stop might be a bit harsh!

She certainly has boundary issues though. Are you sure it’s only biscuits?

If you have not offered her to help herself to biscuits, then I suggest you replace the biscuits with dog biscuits or cat kibble. Or leave the tin empty.

Just buy some really cheap biscuits like lidl bourbons or something and leave them in the box. Hide away your nicer biscuits. If she's a good cleaner maybe she needs the energy to do a good job (clutching at straws I know! )

Is it a big deal? Are they really expensive? If it's an 80p packet and you're really happy in every other way, then honestly it wouldn't bother me.

Report
WorraLiberty · 01/10/2017 21:02

How do you know it's definitely her?

Report
Whinesalot · 01/10/2017 21:04

It's not the biscuits - it's the principle.

Have you even asked her?

Report
HotelEuphoria · 01/10/2017 21:05

I would gladly buy her biscuits, but the fact she is just taking them, without asking and consistently is taking the piss.

PoisonousSmurf · 01/10/2017 21:05

Pay her more? She could be going hungry at home?
