Crushed velvet sofas/beds/curtains.

Also wooden letters in the kitchen/bathroom that's say 'Cook'/'Bath' etc telling you what each room is for.

While I'm at it- wall 'art' (stickers) with cheesy phrases.

What do you mean by crushed sofas/curtains/beds?

By yes I meant I think they’re all awful!

Crushed velvet anything is vile. Reminds me of the fashion of my youth in the early 90s. I wouldn't let it over the threshold now!
I know it's not interior decor but I hate hate hate gravel 'driveways ' in really small front gardens. There are several in our road and they just spill gravel all over the pavement every time a car drives in or out. Which makes it really wonky for me pushing the buggy up and down !

My mil has a house full to the brim with this stuff. Her bathroom is so carefully arranged with cutsy junk it takes ages to clear a space for a bath.

In small quantities I do like some of the stuff, but it's becoming a bit overwhelming!

What about the wall 'art' which says 'In this moment time stood still' it has a clock pointing to the time a child was born and then the name of the child underneath.

Mmmm. Crushed velvet, if at all, should be confined to clothes. Possibly cushions.

That sofa, apart from being grey (shite), crushed velvet (shiter) is the same fucking sofa you see in every sodding Australian house (shitest).
And I bet it looks way worse in the smaller rooms of UK homes.

@MrsTWH Noooo! How do you cope with it? I'd be running my hands over it all day making sure it was all going the same direction

painting the inside of your house grey

threads on here saying 'i am looking for a warm grey'
there is no such thing! it's grey! it's the colour of miserable winter skies and battleships.

Wall stickers with song lyrics above a bed are the worst

As are those little wooden boards / fridge magnets that say things like "friends are the family we choose for ourselves". Tacksville.

Oh I hate those!!!
I thought home decoration was all about frog tape, glitter walls and painted wood these days...?

Maybe it's the time when their life, as they knew it, i.e. spontaneous and fun, actually stopped. :o

That grey sofa is a monstrosity on many levels! Don't mind a bit of velvet though and those orange chairs are quite lovely!

I hate that so many new builds have floor to ceiling windows at the front of the house meaning that the residents have to permanently have their blinds closed for some privacy and stop people looking straight through the property. What is wrong with thigh high walls and then window?

At risk of sounding like a total snob, I think all the things mentioned are a bit common. Taste is generally pretty classed.
