Currently TTC after two miscarriages. Period was due two days ago but no sign, however I have now taken two clearblue tests - both BFN! I wondered if anyone else had had this experience and ended up with a BFP?

I had a friend who never got a BFP on a HPT

However, it's totally normal to skip 2 periods a year, and also to have delays.

Thanks for your reply sykadelic. I don't think it's a missed period because I have had periods for 25 years now and never missed one except when I was pregnant! I guess there's a first time for everything though.

I've only ever had 1 BFP from a urine test and that was at 20 weeks. Both babies were discovered with bloods

This year I’ve had a few 45 day cycles where I ovulated really late. I wonder if getting older (I’m not old but mid 30s) means cycles will change a bit every so often even if they’ve been totally regular normally.

You could be testing too early or you could just be late. I’m as regular as clockwork and only missed when pregnant but it’s known for me to have some seriously dodgy late ones a couple of times a year. My last period I was late by 3 days and back in April I was late by 6!

Are you charting your ovulation dates?

I can count on one hand the number of times I've had a late period, I'm very regular. But late periods do happen! Stress, weight loss/gain, etc affects cycle. Neg pregnancy test is probably right I'm afraid.

With DD2 I took a test a few days after my period was due- negative. Assumed my period was just a little late as I was bf still which I read can make them irregular. I forgot about it.

A couple of weeks later I smelled some slightly off milk and threw up- so I took another test and I was pregnant. I must have just ovulated late so it didn't show up in the first test a couple of days after my missed period.

Interesting range of replies here - thank you :) I just want to know one way or the other really, it's frustrating not knowing! Any more stories?

Re ovulation dates, I have just been tracking using my CM and the Ovia app, but this month I don't know when I ovulated because I had egg white CM on days 14-15 then again on days 21-22 Confused

Iv took plenty. Every time it's been a neg I haven't been pregnant. Every time it's + I have been except once when I wasn't actually pregnant.

Is it a normal clear blue test you are using or a digital? The digitalis are less sensitive.
Personally I always used amazon cheapies or the indeed tests as got clearer and earlier results.

PollyCazaletWannabe · 01/10/2017 07:49

It's a clear blue digital. I live in China and the internet cheapies you can get here aren't always reliable, which complicates things! Maybe I should just wait a few days to test again? I don't know :(

I've just had exactly that. Got a bfp at 6 days late, must have ovulated late

I hate to say it but the only times that's happened to me was when I was ttc. It's either stress or a chemical pregnancy. (The egg gets fertilised but doesn't implant properly/doesn't make it past the very early stages but it slows things down a bit.) It's such a frustrating place to be. Hang in there!

I am not an early tester. The only times I've tested early, I have used a FRER (a few times I've had to test early as we've had an occasion)

With my successful pregnancies [I'm 22w with 3rd] I've always had a strong positive from a 'cheapie' and a 2-3 weeks on a CB digital. I test day of period being due or a day after.

I've also had 5 miscarriages so lots of variations on the positive tests. One took a week to show up and I was bleeding within another week. Another I had a 3+ despite having a scan due to bleeding and knowing it wasn't a viable pregnancy.

Wishing you luck OP and if this isn't it then hang in there. Flowers

I caved at 8dpo but got BFN. Internet cheapie tests were all negative, never gave me a positive... On the day I was due my period I went out and bought a Tesco early test, BFP! I was 13dpo.

With my 1st and 3rd tested +ve day of missed period. 2nd took about 10 days after missed period to get even very faint +ve. Eventually went to doctors who did blood test to confirm things were progressing normally as lines so faint. Was pretty sure pregnant though as was throwing up constantly.

Good luck xx

Thanks mumofasleepthief (love your name, by the way!) I am actually on a mini break with my DH right now and won't have access to any pg tests until Wednesday, which is probably good because otherwise I can see myself going crazy testing and retesting :/ this has just never happened to me before and I think I'm a bit obsessive after TTC for a year and having two miscarriages already :(

I had late positives with my daughter and my current pregnancy. I used First Response, which you can use 6 days early and is supposed to be 99% accurate one day before your period's due, and they were negative right up to one day before my period was due when I only had a super-faint line which appeared after 10 minutes.

The scans for this pregnancy place me further along than I thought, so I was very much pregnant when the sensitive tests were saying not.

CB digital is notoriously unsensitive. So maybe you are pregnant. But then again, maybe not. I had four miscarriages before my first child so I know what this stage is like. Look after yourself. It will happen.

Thanks Quercus :) congrats on getting past the miscarriages and having your DC! Hopefully that will happen for me too :)

There's no way to tell really - you might just have ovulated a few days later that usual in which case you're period may well show up but likewise you could test again and get another result. I was using one of the cycle tracker dealies and got a negative on the designated testing day.... so I went out to celebrate my birthday with a rather large number of margaritas safe (or so I thought) in the knowledge that tequila was on the menu for at least another month, a few days later when I still hadn't recovered from my 'hangover' I tested again and got a 1-2 weeks positive

PollyCazaletWannabe · 01/10/2017 11:59

Thanks Slacker! I actually went out for dinner with a friend on Friday and got completely trollied to an extent that I don't normally Blush on the strength of my negative test in the morning, but now I'm worried!

I wouldn't beat yourself up about that.... look at it this way - when you're '4 weeks' pregnant the first 2 you were in fact not pregnant at all, the second 2 the egg is fertilised but still self-contained. So if you do turn out to be pregnant, unless you happened to be much further along that you antipated then there is really no reason to worry.
