To think the chances of hurting yourself in the exact same spot is unlikely?

DD has been moaning about going into work lately (laziness really!) she is 16.

She recently came home with a hurt hand that was bruised, then on her next shift seemed to have hurt it in the exact same way again...? More bruising now, thinks she can't work with it like this AIBU to think this is a bit of an odd coincidence?

Depends how she hurt it. If it's doing the same thing both times then no it's not surprising really

I hurt my coccyx twice doing different things though, I think (entirely non medical opinion) that I weakened it the first time around.

Also, if you bash your arm, the already bruised part is going to be even more painful, whilst you might not even notice the rest.

She was doing the milk cages and squashed hand between the fridge and cage... Seems unlikely that it would be exact same place and she wouldn't have been more cautious?

Fridge as in the fridge they're stored in.

She could be more clumsy because her hand was hurt, and more likely to injure it again.

It is completely possible (at 16, isn't she at school?)

Put some ice on it, keep it elevated, take some arnica tablets if she wants, bandage it before the next shift, and she'll be nearly as good as new!

Oh I've experience of doing that job, it's very very easy to end up with the same injury a few times. I used to be so frustrated I'd always manage to catch my little finger between 2 milk caddies. Same hand everytime on the knuckle.

It's possible. I have poor spatial awareness and have managed to break the same bone twice, by pretty much doing the same thing (walking into something).

It is possible. When moving house once I was carrying a box into the bathroom, hit the door by mistake and the corner of the box hit into my arm. Pick up another box, hit the door again and end up with another mark in the same spot!

If she's moving the same cages into the same fridge I'd say she'd be more likely to be hurting herself in the same place than hurt herself in some other way.

I do this regularly in my job!! Hurts even more when you’re hands are cold!

If you think your dd hates her job so much that she's willing to physically hurt herself to avoid going, why make her keep working there? Faking illness to get out of work is one thing, but actually causing injuries? That to me would be very concerning.

But I suspect she genuinely hurt it twice by accident while working. Not unusual at all.

I had a lumpy bruise in the same place on my legs for years. Putting leaflets on seat rests in an auditorium. 500 seats around 500 bumps because it had to be done very quickly.
