What's happened?

I remember once being so heartbroken I felt physical pain - almost like I was going to physically break apart.

When I found out my daughter had a lifelong disability via a phone call. It was physical pain. I had to see a doctor to calm down.

It's awful OP, but it will pass Flowers

Another MNer asking if you are okay.

Yes I have and the moment still has the power to make my cry.

Hope you're ok OK. Mine was sitting in hospital all night just waiting for My Mum to die, it was absolute agony and when we were told she had died I actually felt like my body was breaking up and my mind was shattering.

The day I left my abusive husband. I thought I was going to die from the grief at losing the life I should have had.

Yes, it's normal to feel physical pain. Just allow yourself to go through it and it will lessen eventually. Look after yourself - eat good food and try to sleep as much as possible.

When The One decided it wasn't working and left. I honestly thought my heart could break into 2 pieces, it was a physical pain.
(Fortunately I realized a year later that he was a knob.)

I hope you're ok op.

I had that moment when they discovered no heartbeat. I literally thought my heart had snapped in two. In a way it kind of did.

The physical pain is like nothing I've ever experienced before or after and still haunts me daily.

What ever it is, you can get through it. Flowers

Like your heart is being squeezed and it hurts to breathe? My sister died, I got in the car, played very loud music and screamed, all the way to my dad's, where I finally cried.

It does pass, find a way to get through it and be as selfish and irrational as you need to be right now, whatever keeps you going.

Yes, I have experienced this. Similar to LagunaBubbles It's horrible. It was something that happened unexpected and very sudden. Shock followed shortly after, although I didn't realise it (the shock) at the time.

Getting the phone call about my dad’s sudden death

My now DH dumping me in the early stages of our relationship (we got back together 3 days later), I laid on the floor for hours sobbing

The worst was when I was 19, it was after I told my mum that my stepdad had been sexually harassing me for years and that he sexually abused me as a child. she left him at first, and I was so happy that she’d escaped his clutches and knew the truth and that I could go to the police. About a week later, and the moment she told me that she was getting back together with him, I swear my heart broke. Physical pain, total devastation. She’s still with him to this day, and I can’t forgive her, I can’t really love her properly after that.

When my mother dropped us off with a relative and said see you later girls and never came back. I was five at the time and was heartbroken for years, she didn't die, she just ran away!

Getting a phone call that someone close to me had been found having killed themselves.
Followed by phone call telling me a family member had been murdered.
Other people close to me have died, but suicide and murder are particularly hard to deal with.

I couldn't breathe when a beloved friend died. It's very frightening. Have you got anyone with you to look after you?

When my Dad died. Pain beyond belief.

My ex-DH cheating on me (for the first time) I was distraught. By the end and after the nth time I found I didn't give many shits at all. I was young...

I should have added that I hope you are ok. I don't know what has happened, but yes that feeling is 'normal' in moments of extreme distress. BUT I promise you, it won't always feel like this. Stay safe xx
