To ask for help arranging my home, diagram included

I've NC, purely because this is very identifying.

We are a family of 5, and I'm frustrated with trying to organise our home.
The first picture is the layout, and the second picture I've added the basic, main furniture. Apologies for the 'off' scale.
Any suggestions would be great.

TBH more detail is needed such as position of the windows and so on.

What are you looking to achieve? It looks as if you are using the space as well as possible from your diagram. Are you hoping to create more floor space, better storage or a better layout?

DH & I have an Ikea sofa bed. My sons share the bigger room and my DD is in the small one.
DS1 is GCSE age, DS2 is in Junior school and DD has just started reception.

I think the biggest problem is finding enough space, and the DC age gap doesn't help.

I wish we could put a table in the kitchen. It really doesnt fit, as we have work surfaces all around the kitchen.
It is hard to not have a bedroom to ourselves. A double bed doesnt fit into the little room, at all.
We did think about turning the little room into a small lounge, so we could all have space to do our own thing when we choose to.

We have a clothes rail in the living room, it's along the wall by the TV unit, and I move it when we have guests

Could you convert the kitchen into a bedroom and have your kitchen in the living room along the wall you've got the dining table on?

if you own & will be there long term, I might move the kitchen to the lounge and make the kitchen into another bedroom. then you can have the right number of bedrooms plus one shared kitchen / living room.

Yup, I would extend airing cupboard to provide access into kitchen and make that a 3rd bedroom - move the kitchen into the living room on the left hand wall and put the dining table down the end. Wall mount the tv and spin the sofa to face the window.

No, that would then make the old kitchen a bedroom for you.

I would swing the sofa bed around so long length goes against wall where tv stand currently is, shorter length under window.
Put bookcase in corner opposite where sofa will be and tv unit next to it.

I'd get rid of the dining table first.

I'd then partition the current lounge at the first window (possibly just with a screen and/or curtains if you can't put anything permanent in). The area behind the partition where your tv etc is now would be your bedroom.

Finally get a small sofa and a folding table and make the rest of the current lounge into the new lounge.

I'd also consider swapping the kids so the 2 younger ones shared the bunks and the teen had the small room to himself.

i would get a ikea type wide book case and partition the lounge, get a real bed for you both in there ( you can still use the bed as a lounge use a ton of large cushions on it and at night just toss them on the floor) , get rid of the table and replace with a round one that can be extended as needed, put a small tv in each room if its really needed or near the table, get under bed tubs for storage and you could move the bookcase in the lounge to the hall way for storage
