A sort of TAAT! Not bathroom cloths but KITCHEN cloths advice please

Can I ask the same about how people manage cloths and dish towels in the kitchen?
I seem to accumulate piles of dishcloths (do have a dishwasher but wash pans by hand etc) and cloths I've wiped down the worktops with, they absolutely do start to fester in the half sink where I leave them. Tea towels too.
There are only two of us here so we don't do laundry every day.

I have pile of yucky ones which lurk around breeding bacteria until I have enough for a wash. I do give them a good rinse threw with washing up liquid and leave them to dry they don't seem to drink that much then.

Place marking as in similar situation. FWIW op I pour boiling water on mine occasionally then just chuck them in the washing machine with clothes ...

Can't stand 'real' cloths in the kitchen, I always use J cloth equivalents and throw them away when they get yucky. If you keep them rinsed out and squeezed every time they are used they last quite a while. Same in the bathroom......

I use one or two wash rags a day for cleaning and I only use them for one day. Wet rags that fester in the sink overnight is just gross to me. As for dish towels, if I've only used them to dry off clean dishes, I hang them to dry and will use them the next day as well.

Same as bathroom. I use cotton cloths.

I have a cloth for the work tops and cupboard fronts and one for washing up and cleaning drainer.

Both used daily, rinsed out and soaked undiluted Zoflora over night. Washed every two weeks.

I use paper towels to clean surfaces as I go along, dishes air dry or dry in the dishwasher. I use old rags and a scotchbrite sponge/scourer for weekly deep cleaning floors, skirts and cabinets and they go straight in the bin afterwards. Working in a commercial kitchen years ago and doing a couple of food hygiene courses opened my eyes - NO festering cloths or tea towels in my kitchen.

We use paper towels made from recycled paper, and biodegradeable cleaners. Cotton isn't environmentally friendly, neither is plastic.
