To feel like every single little thing asks for "feedback"

A few wines down and I'm going to rant about this.

I hate this current trend of every single transaction or communication asking for feedback. I swear this did not happen a few years ago.

I get that customer feedback is useful. However, I feel like I can't even buy a pint of milk without the cashier giving it "oh fill in our online customer care survey" um no.

I attended a one-off antenatal class before my elective c section a couple of months ago. It lasted 20 minutes if that, and out came the inevitable feedback form.

I don't know why this annoys me so much but it does. Mainly because I can never think of anything constructive to write, maybe. Or maybe I just don't have time. Or strong feelings on any of it.

So yeah. I'd put "asking for feedback" into room 101. What would you put into room 101?

I hate it. And I have to ask for feedback! I like the Chinese system; there's a little electronic board with a happy face all the way down to a sad face and you push the buttons. Over in a jiffy.

Can I get rid of people who don't fucking signal?

I agree OP, but how will they know it is annoying? Maybe you could give them some feedback? Wink

Ironically its because people these days like to complain about every little thing in single transactions and communications.

So we are now in a catch 22 where people are complaining about the methods of trying to stop people complaining.

I would put at least 50% of complainers and moaners in room 101 on the basic principles of the customer is not always right, customers should read the bloody small print and people are just moaning chancers. Maybe 75% of complainers just to be sure.

Honestly the number of emails from places like Amazon I have. "Remember your purchase of xxxxx? Remember to leave some feedback!" "How did we do??" Etc etc.

MsMarple that's exactly what I'm going to do. Service fine and ordinary, feedback highly annoying.

scottishdiem fair points you make. I'm in full agreement re complainers and moaners.

My thing for room 101 is the bin lorry people leaving emptied wheelie bin in middle of drive so I can't turn the car in when I get home. So minor and yet so annoying!

YANBU it does my head in too! I occasionally write a book review on Amazon if book was particularly good/bad but that's it.

I get it from my local taxi company! They send a "how was your journey? leave us some feedback!" text before I've even got out the bloody car!

I hate it too. What especially boils my piss is when in person they also try and tell you what to say in the feedback? "I need st least all 10's@". Fuck off.

Some of the sellers on AmaZon are terrible for this. I received 4 emails asking me to review an umbrella that I had bought from them.

So don't offer feedback. Smile politely and move on.

100% support this. Especially windows popping up before you've even made your purchase/used the website "will you fill in our survey at the end?" No I bloody won't, I might not even buy anything from you. Grump.

I'm supposed to ask for online reviews at work. I hate it.

I had this from an eBay seller. Lots of messages asking for feedback, the last one was very pushy.

I didn't leave them feedback on principle Grin

I am beyond pissed off with the companies who want to "delight" me and always ask if any employee has gone above and beyond to make my experience memorable.

I'm getting diesel for fuck's sake.
Just have a tidy forecourt and a friendly cashier who doesn't try to upsell me a thousand things and I'm happy.

I don't need "delighting" Angry

Have you seen the black mirror episode "nosedive". Feedback freaks me out after watching it

With most things I agree, but putting my work hat on for a second, for things like medical care and education I think it's really important. Antenatal education is a big bone of contention and it's really important to know whether people find the current offerings useful. But yeah, annoys me no end when I'm just buying a few things in a shop!

I leave feedback selectively

Please remember that for health or public services or charities they are often j see pressure to prove that non essential services are worth funding. So if you thought your antenatal class was worthwhile and you'd like other pregnant people to have access to it please leave feedback.

Private companies can nob off. I get phone calls emails and letters for feedback from Hilton becUae I stay there every week for work. I already pay them enough without having to do their market research for free for them as well. I don't mind if companies offer a points incentive or whatever.

Oh and also, it's really really helpful to small businesses if you're buying from sites like etsy since feedback helps them make more sales so I always try to leave it then. Not so much when I'm being hassled by a cashier to fill in a bloody survey though!

My work have to ask every single person for feedback (recently introduced) I hate badgering people all day because I can see they're really not interested/don't care. But management force us to do it and we get weekly updates of what % of customers have given feedback and how we should be doing better etc.

Pain in the arse on the opposite side too.

YANBU. Suppliers need to remember that little saying 'no news is good news'. If people are unhappy, they will tell you. Otherwise, leave them the fuck alone.

I never leave feedback. Until the time that Maplin nagged me to leave feedback about a clock I bought and it prompted me into 1. telling them that the clock was shit and didn't keep time and 2. take the fucker back. To their credit, they took it back without quibble six months after I bought it but I didn't feel the need to shout about it all over the internet.

What particulary bugs me is websites that pop up a 'please give up feedback' box the millisecond it loads. I may have have commented that asking for feedback before you have had chance to even start browsing the website is quite irritating.

I also don't agree with the business model of the likes of ebay and Etsy, where feedback score dictates visibility. It doesn't encourage sellers to perform better, it makes them desperately beg for feedback and irritate their customers.

OP have you read 'The Circle' by Dave Eggers? Interesting take on where society appears to be heading with all this feedback neediness.

While I agree with leaving us the fuck alone, the reality is that people will often NOT tell companies when they are unhappy. They will tell their friends and family and they will not shop there again. But the retailer doesn't know that, or why.

There is a balance to be struck between hassling customers and genuinely trying to improve when things go wrong (or do more of the things that go right)
