To be worried about these text messages

For the last year I have been receiving text messages. Apparently from Next, about my account and the balance that needs to paid and that it is overdue etc. I don't have a next account so have never phoned the number or clicked on the link in the message as I presumed it was spam/phishing but they're getting more and more frequent. Surely spammers would have given up by now? I haven't received anything in the post or by email. It's just text messages.
Has anyone had the same or similar messages as I'm starting to get paranoid about identity fraud etc which is ridiculous I know!

I think you need to ring them. It's possible that someone has mistyped their number on their account, but you need to make sure there isn't a debt in your name.

SleepFreeZone · 19/09/2017 10:55

I think id Google the telephone number and see what comes up

FooFighter99 · 19/09/2017 10:56

Just googled the numbers and they're legit Next contact numbers.

Maybe someone has given your mobile number by mistake.

Give them a ring and ask them to remove your mobile number.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/09/2017 10:57

Its not ridiculous to get paranoid about identity fraud. Unfortunately, its rife.
I'd get in touch with Next straight away.

arethereanyleftatall · 19/09/2017 10:57

Find next actual number online. Call that one to double check, not the number detailed in the text.

justalittlelemondrizzle · 19/09/2017 11:01

I checked my noddle account and there's no credit on there. Which hopefully means there's nothing in my name. Maybe it was just a mistyped phone number.

Do what are says. Find the Next number via their website and phone them. Do not call from the text message or click on the link given.

BarbaraofSevillle · 19/09/2017 11:02

According to Google, it is Next

help.next.co.uk/Section.aspx?ItemId=10388

So it looks like your number has become attached to an account, either in error, or deliberate fraud - someone has ordered a load of stuff and planned to not pay, so they didn't want to be hassled.

Suprising that Next haven't rung you though as a phone call is harder to ignore than a text.

I'd ring them and tell them you don't have an account and see what they say.

ijustwannadance · 19/09/2017 11:04

Go on Next website and use the help or contact section. You can request call back too. Do not use the link info.
Explain situation, they will be able to check if an account is set up in your name or at your address. Their customer services are usually pretty good.

Did you move house last year? Could someone at a previous address got hold of your details and set up account?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/09/2017 11:06

Noodle account ConfusedGrin

MorningCuppa · 19/09/2017 11:06

Phone next and speak to them about it.

TrickOrRuddyTreat · 19/09/2017 11:06

Well the 033 number appears to genuinely be a Next phone number but the other one not so much. It could be that a genuine customer's details have been entered incorrectly and Next are contacting you by mistake. You could try calling them and asking them if they can look into it for you?

bookwormsforever · 19/09/2017 11:09

I'd contact them and sort it out! If they're conatcting you by mistake, maybe they're not contacting the real person who has the Next account...

Oblomov17 · 19/09/2017 11:16

FGS just phone next. Please.

Gemini69 · 19/09/2017 11:18

block the number x

Autumnchill · 19/09/2017 11:23

I had this the other day but it was Black Horse Finance for my new Audi A3. I rang their customer service who said it was probably an error but I insisted I spoke to their fraud department. They rang me back after checking some derails and yes, my phone number has been attached to David Morris' account but it's not my address etc on the agreement, so just an error they will correct.

Just ring them!

shoeaddict83 · 19/09/2017 11:30

dont really understand why you'd ignore them? just ring the Next number online and speak to them, if its an error it will be corrected, ignoring it wont help?

CiderwithBuda · 19/09/2017 11:32

I would definitely phone them just to clear it up.

justalittlelemondrizzle · 19/09/2017 12:22

Noddle is a credit report account. So i xan see there is nothing is on there against my name or address.

I didn't contact them as at first it was an odd message every couple of months. And no phone calls or emails that you would expect if someone was chasing you for money. It's only in the last two weeks that they've been texting me more few. I'll phone next this afternoon.

As already suggested simply log onto their website - click on help section and ask for a call back. Get your phone number removed from their system as its obviously been an error of some sort...

FittonTower · 19/09/2017 12:45

This has happened to me before, not Next but another catalogue, it was a bit of a pain to sort out because the only information I had was my phone number and they were obsessed with my confirming my identity and stuff when I wasn't a customer. Once I got someone on the phone who wasn't tied to their scripts they fixed it for me. It wasn't really a problem because it wasn't an account set up in my name or anything - just a mis-type on the phone number but still annoying.

This happened to me the other way around, I wasn't getting texts for something as staff member had taken my phone number down with one digit wrong. Someone else was getting text messages and apparently rang them to let them know. It wasn't next but same principle.

redemptionsongs · 19/09/2017 12:47

my Nan was defrauded by someone pretending to be her Next catalogue - be really careful to verify before you hand over any money.
